Tav was late. Astarion resisted the urge to pace and instead stayed in position, leaning against a thick oak tree. He had brought a spare bedroll with him, which he had fluffed and arranged nicely on the forest floor, alongside a fresh bottle of Ithbank he had stolen from their supplies. He had even brought the nice glass chalices he had “found.” He didn’t have any flowers or chocolates, but at least he had decent wine. Obviously, he had removed his shirt. Once Tav entered the clearing he would reveal himself, his lean body a vision in the soft moonlight, and begin the romantic monologue he had prepared.
He was looking forward to it. He had used the same rote moves over and over again in the bars, the flop houses, the brothels. With strangers, it was better to stick to a safe script, even the repetitive one that had been trained into him. But this was a rare moment of theatricality he could plan.
Crickets chirped. An owl hooted. A few fireflies flickered and danced across the clearing. It really was a lovely spot.
He had spent a long time thoroughly choreographing this encounter. It had to be perfect. Would Tav like it soft and romantic? That was always a safe bet. Or would she surprise him? Was Tav secretly a naughty little thing underneath her do-gooder veneer? Was she as bossy in bed as she was outside of it, or would she attend his every command? He wasn’t completely sure what Tav would like, but he had a few educated guesses. Most people liked the same kinds of things anyway.
Tav was a bard. Given their reputation, he assumed she would at least be competent.
Finally, he hears new footsteps approach and Tav steps gingerly out of the darkness. She’s freshly bathed and dressed in a loose, flowing peasant blouse that sits low upon her shoulders, revealing her gorgeous collar bones. On cue, Astarion strides forward into a moonbeam, angling himself so that the light catches the hard planes of his chest, the hills and valleys of his abdominals. Tav is appropriately awestruck: she looks him up and down and up again, her pupils dilating with undisguised surprise and desire.
“There you are. I’ve been waiting,” he purrs eagerly. He prowls towards her. “Waiting since the moment I laid eyes on you.” His voice is soft and low with promise. “Waiting,” He pauses for effect. “To have you.”
Tav’s lip quirks. “Really? From the moment you laid eyes on me?” She questions. “So, was it from the moment you saw me on the Nautiloid and thought I was a Mindflayer? Or was it when you threatened me at knifepoint?”
Astarion purses his lips. He had forgotten about all of that sordid business. He was just trying to say something alluring.
“The point of the matter is, I’ve been aching to have you,” he counters smoothly.
“Well, you don’t have me yet,” Tav teases.
“Don’t I?” He softly calls her bluff. “You’re here! And I don’t think you want to talk.” He steps forward, bringing his hand up to her face. “I think you want to be known.” He brushes a few stray locks behind her ears. His fingers linger against her cheek. “To be tasted,” he whispers.
“And what do you want?” Tav breathes, her eyes wide and glassy. What a question. He wants so many things. Power. Control. Vengeance. Freedom. Safety. But in this clearing, there’s only one right answer.
“What do any of us want? Pleasure.” He holds her gaze, lowering his lashes in a sultry stare. “Yours.” His hands grab her waist. “Mine.” He pulls her body close. “Our collective ecstasy.” He studies Tav’s face, his eyes flickering back and forth across her features. She studies him back, her eyes boring into his own like she’s searching desperately for something. Suddenly, Astarion feels insecure. Why else would she be here if not for this?
“That is what you want, isn’t it?” He asks apprehensively. “To lose yourself in me.”
It’s what they always want. In these moments Astarion is not himself. If he exists, he is a pair of pecs, a ripple of abs, talented fingers, a wet mouth, a hard cock, a tight and willing hole. He is merely a reflection of his partner’s desires. It doesn’t matter what he wants.
Tav places a hand upon his own, leading it up to her mouth. She places a light kiss across the back of his knuckles.
“What I want is the chance to get to know a man who seems-" she turns his hand over. “Clever.” She kisses the palm of his hand, her soft lips lingering against the sensitive skin. “Witty.” She kisses his wrist. She ghosts her mouth up his arm, her warm breath trailing over his cool flesh. “Cunning.” She places a scorching kiss on his shoulder. “Ambitious.” She lays an open-mouthed kiss at the base of his neck and Astarion stifles an involuntary sigh. She moves upward, finally to his mouth.
“Fierce,” she declares. He instinctively leans in and captures her lips with his. She parts her lips for him and Astarion stops himself from groaning into her mouth. She kisses him back softly, her plush lips moving against his with a tender fervor that makes him feel dizzy. He forces himself to break the kiss, dropping his hands to the backs of her thighs and hoisting her up. Tav instinctively knows to jump as he lifts, wrapping her legs around him as he pivots smoothly to press her into the trunk of the nearby oak tree, pinning her there with the weight of his frame.
He kisses her again, basking in the passionate, sensual slide of her mouth as they embrace against the tree. It always felt wrong to allow himself to enjoy the tenderness of a kiss, knowing what awaited his partners. But this is a moment of his own. As he dips his tongue into her hot, wet mouth he finds that it is not enough. He wants more. More heat, more touch, more connection. Tav’s fingers thread through his curls and he shivers in both delight and dread. But her fingers stay soft, her grip stays kind and the longer she caresses him, the more he finds that he likes her attention. He squeezes her ass and Tav releases a breathy sigh into his mouth.
“Please,” she breathes. He buries his face into her neck, where he can’t help but smile against her skin.
“Please what, darling?” He teases, the smirk evident in his voice as he lays a kiss against her throat. Tav guides his face back up to hers. She pushes herself against him, clinging to his chest, and for a moment they are perfectly balanced upright. Then, Tav uses her weight to tip him backward and they tumble into the downy grass. They land in a playful tangle, Tav now seated atop him. She arches her neck in a sinful curve.
“Bite me,” she begs. “Please.” Her thighs clench around his waist. “Please, Astarion.”
Astarion surges forward, flipping them over. He was ready to forego this, but now that Tav has asked for his bite he has no qualms about giving it to her. He dives down to her neck, sinking his teeth greedily into her. Tav cries out, but her cry of pain quickly turns to pleasure as he takes his fill. As he drinks, he slots himself between her legs, settling his weight on top of her as she trembles under him. She’s perfect like this, pinned beneath him with his fangs in her throat. His neglected cock throbs for attention.
Too soon, Astarion rips himself away from her neck. As much as he loves this, he wants her alert. He needs her to feel everything he plans to do to her. He laps at her pretty wounds, swallowing every last drop. Tav bucks beneath him, seeking friction. He has mercy, grinding his hardness down against her.
“As delicious as this is, there’s something else I want to taste,” He whispers in her ear. He moves lower, pulling the loose fabric of her top down beneath her perfect, round breasts. She isn’t wearing any kind of bra or stays, a delightful surprise. He lavishes each breast with nips and kisses, her nipples hardening under his touch. He takes one in his mouth, circling her nipple expertly with his tongue as he kneads the other. Her tits feel perfect in his hands, their softness a beckoning temptation. Tav quivers and sighs as he caresses her, petting his head in a way that he imagines is loving. He wonders what it would be like to bite her here. To lay his head against the pillow of her breast and hear her hypnotic heartbeat. But as beautiful as that thought is, her chest is only an apéritif. Tav groans when Astarion moves even further down her body.
Astarion smirks to himself as he descends. He is very, very good with his mouth.
He unlaces her skirt, then hooks his fingers into her smallclothes, sliding them both completely off and depositing them somewhere irrelevant. He lays a kiss on her ankle, then her knee, then on the inside of her thigh, where a major artery throbs with precious blood. He wants to sink his teeth into it. Instead, he lays another kiss against her plush skin.
He leans forward between Tav’s splayed legs where her wet, pretty cunt glistens. He inhales deeply, openly enjoying the musk of her arousal. He looks up at her from between her legs and catches her staring, propped up on her elbows, as he knew she would be. Maintaining eye contact, he dips down and licks a slow, sensual line across her opening and up to her clit. Tav sighs, her freshly-kissed breasts heaving as she arches her perfect neck upwards. The bruise of his bite stares back at him as Astarion dips back down.
He begins with hot, heavy strokes of his tongue, savoring her taste. Her essence mixes with the lingering taste of blood still on his tongue and he moans at the heady combination. His cock twitches and a spurt of precum suddenly drips from his tips as he sucks and laps at her delicate folds. Gods, she's making such a mess of him.
He circles the delicate pearl of her clit, gradually increasing speed and suction as he works. Her hole clenches needily and he dips one, then another, elegant finger inside her, stroking her silken walls in time with the swirl of his tongue. She’s dripping with want, her channel slick and eager for him. The glide is practically effortless. He adds just a little bit of oomph behind his thrusts, jostling her hips as if he were fucking her with his cock and not his fingers. A small prelude of what is to come. She is going to take his cock so, so well.
“Astarion,” she pants. He moans against her in answer, a deep purr of approval. He crooks his fingers inside of her, massaging her relentlessly. He can feel her twitching, tightening around him. She’s almost there, he can feel it. She grinds against his face and he holds firm, providing her with the sweet friction she needs.
“Astarion!” She clenches around his fingers, gasping as she comes in tight, rippling spasms. He rides her through it, never stopping his ministrations. Not until the sweet undulations of her cunt cease and Tav relaxes in a sweaty, spent puddle. His face is a lovely, sticky mess. He gives her one last sinful lick before moving back to nuzzle her inner thigh. She whines at the loss of his tongue and fingers but he peppers her body with apologetic kisses. She grabs a desperate, but still gentle, fistful of his curls, rubbing his scalp in smooth, soothing circles. Astarion shudders at this new, intimate pleasure.
“Bite me. Please. Again,” Tav whimpers.
“How could I refuse you,” Astarion groans. He hooks one of her thighs over his shoulders, opening her up even more for him. He finally sinks his teeth into the artery in her thigh, relishing in the decadence of such an intimate bite. It’s perfect, exactly what he had wanted. He sucks hard and Tav jerks beneath him, her cunt gushing with renewed wetness. As he drinks, he snakes his hand back up to her clit, rubbing fast circles against her slick flesh. Tav cries out, whining as she quickly approaches a new peak. He releases her thigh, lapping at his bite needily.
“So good, Tav,” he slurs huskily, both her blood and her cum dripping messily down his chin. “So good for me, my darling.” Tav shudders, looking up at him with open adoration in her eyes. “My favorite.” Her face scrunches up, her body pulled tight with pleasure. He holds her gaze. “You’re such a good girl,” he moans for her.
Tav comes for the second time, her back arching off the forest floor as her empty pussy spasms. She releases the sweetest moan as she orgasms again. When she’s finished she reaches for him, pulling him up her body and back to her mouth, where she kisses him with her own deep and fervent hunger.
“You’re perfect, Astarion,” she says, kissing his cheek, then his neck, then his shoulder. “You’re so beautiful,” she murmurs worshipfully. She reaches down to cup his aching cock, rubbing him through the fabric of his trousers. Astarion groans softly at the contact.
“Your turn,” she says with a playful smirk, and Astarion realizes that she intends to work her way down. Tav begins to flip their positions but Astarion holds firm, anchoring himself above her. He wants her. But that’s not the point of this.
“Not tonight, my love. Tonight, I want to positively ravish you,” he insists. Tav groans with thwarted longing, but still arches herself up against him to kiss his treacherous lips.
“You sweet, sweet man,” she says, laying back down beneath him. He knows it isn’t true. Tav only has half of the story, by his own design. Astarion knows he isn’t sweet or kind in reality, but maybe he could be. For a night. For Tav.
“Let me show you just how sweet I can be,” he says, returning his fingers to her swollen pussy. He knows she’s already dripping for it, but he longs to feel the proof of her desire again. He did this to her. He lines himself up, teasing the tip of his cock against her drenched opening. He rubs himself languidly between her legs, coating his cock in her nectar as he continues to tease her.
“Astarion, please,” Tav whines, grinding her hips against him to match his rhythm. A shiver runs up his spine at her wanton cries. He loves it when she begs for it, desperate for anything he will give her. He wants to push it, but he stops himself. He said he would be sweet.
“Anything for my favorite,” he hums, easing himself inside of her with a shallow thrust. He works his way slowly inside of her, enjoying the way her body stretches to accommodate his girth. Tav mewls when he’s finally seated inside of her, and Astarion gives an experimental grind that makes her gasp in pleasure.
When he feels her body relax around him he sets a firm, but steady, pace, humping into her with practiced abandon. His cock drags along her tight walls, spearing her core over and over. He angles himself up against the delicious spot inside her that he knows will make her see stars. He finds it easy to fall into this rhythm, to let his mind wander away while his partner writhes in ecstasy. To let his hand find their clit, toying with it perfunctorily as they languish beneath him.
“Faster, please,” someone begs.
“So polite,” He chuckles darkly, increasing his pace. Sweat begins to bead along his brow. A hand comes up to wipe it away, jolting him out of his reverie. Lips find his own, but it’s too much right now. He gives them a quick peck then straightens his spine, keeping his face far away from that tempting and forbidden throat.
“Astarion,” a voice calls, breathless and keening. Fingers trace over his chest, running down his side, grasping at his hip. They begin to move across his back, dangerously close to it. He immediately laces those curious fingers in his own, pinning them above their head. He begins pounding in earnest, obfuscating with his body.
He feels his partner shatter underneath him, their hole clenching and sucking around his length. Their pleasure ripples through him in tight, pleasing waves and he slows his hips to a gentle roll as they come down from their climax. Tav squeezes his hand in hers, turning her face to kiss his knuckles again.
“Come here,” she beckons, drawing him down to her chest with her other hand. Astarion obeys but turns his face away from her delectable neck. Any moment, He will interrupt-
“That was so good,” she says. “You’re so good.” She coaxes him further up her body, angling his face towards the crook of her neck. She allows him to hide there, unaware of the tempest that wells inside of him.
“Please, take your pleasure, Astarion,” she urges, rubbing those diabolical circles into his scalp. “I want to feel you come,” she pleads. His hips twitch and he jerks inside of her, his body moving of its own accord. He has whispered words like those a thousand times, but Tav sounds so sincere when she says them.
It’s been so long, too long since this happened with another person. He doesn’t know if he can. But he wants to. Her arms cradle him as he moves against her, trying to lose himself in the way that he’s supposed to. That should be instinctual, that should be his by right.
He buries his face in her neck, resisting the desire to bite down. He feels the warmth of her body, breathes in her comforting scent. This isn’t just anyone. It’s Tav. Tav. Tav, Tav, Tav, Tav, Tav-
He comes hard, releasing himself deeply inside of her. A moan tears itself from his throat as he is wracked with full-body contractions, pleasure coursing through him like lightning. He takes big, gasping, unnecessary gulps of air as he hurtles over this unexpected cliff. Tav holds him through it all, whispering kind, encouraging nothings.
She turns to kiss him and he lets her, grounding himself in the push and pull of her lips. He opens his mouth to her, wanting to feel it all. Tav props them both up on their sides, brushing his sweaty curls out of his face. He can feel her smiling into the kiss and it makes him smile too, just a little.
“You forgot handsome,” he says after a moment, breaking their kiss.
“What?” Tav asks blearily.
“Handsome. Funny, clever, cunning, ambitious, fierce, and handsome,” he explains, as if it were obvious. Tav snorts inelegantly, a cute puff of air tickling his face.
“And very, very handsome,” she concedes, settling against his chest.
They stay like that for a long time, silently luxuriating in each other’s arms. Astarion can’t remember the last time he trusted this peace. He’s waiting for it to be interrupted by the the click of a door handle, the muted tap of a staff against ugly carpet, and the red glow of his sire’s cruel eyes, freezing them both in place on one of the overstuffed, impersonal beds of the palace.
Tav shifts in his arms and he resists the urge to hold her tighter. Her hand strokes his chest in a consistent, easy sweep that lulls them both into a deep, peaceful rest.

A gift of petals
Levi x fem!reader
Gods AU, Hades and Persephone inspired, fluff, romance, falling in love, Gods, powers, becoming a couple.
Levi takes a small break from the underworld by going to the mortal realm. While there, he comes across a goddess he has never seen before. Levi falls for you and wants to know you more, but at first, you are scared of him. He leaves you gifts and tries to talk to you. As time goes on you warm up to the sweet man of death and see he's just an adorable flustered goofball.

It was nice and warm around this time in the mortal real. The underworld was normally cool and a bit chilly, so a change in temperature was nice for once. There were no expectations for this little holiday, only to just relax and see how humans were living their lives.
The mortal realm seemed more beautiful than it did before, almost like something sweet hand entered the world and gave people hope. As Levi explored he heard people talking about how Spring had changed over the years, like now it was full of love and bursting with hope. Levi noticed it too because the goddess who normally did Spring was a bit uptight, she didn't like many people.
His travels led him to a grand field full of new life. The beauty and care were breathtaking to him. He moved down the hill and took a seat for a moment so he could just take it all in. Everything just moved him, he felt such comfort in this new Spring. He was so curious about who the Goddess was that hadn't stepped foot in the world of the Gods yet.
Levi held his breath when he saw a swirl of thick blossoms and petals, which slowly faded to reveal the most stunning woman he had ever seen. You were so breathtaking wearing a sweet white flowing dress that showed off your chest, as well as your waist. There was a slight pink hue to you as well.
He rose to his feet and moved closer to you. "So cute."
You smiled at your work and made a big oak tree grow tall. "Perfect."
"Hello."
You jumped and squealed at the deep male voice. You shot behind the tree and peeked out at the most handsome man you'd ever seen. "Mm."
Levi blushed hard. "I um...you...you're pretty...uh...I'm Le-Levi. Wh-what's your name?"
"Please don't hurt me."
Levi held his hands up. "I would never. I just want to say hello."
You whined a bit. "I've been hurt before."
"I just wanted to say I love your work. Y-you make beautiful things. A-And you are beautiful." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Mm, very beautiful."
You peered a little more. "You...are...handsome."
He moved closer as your words excited him. "Really?"
You gasped and quickly turned into a huge flower. "Stop."
He backed up. "I'm so sorry." He blushed. "I d-didn't mean to...I uh..." His shoulders dropped. "I'll back off. I don't want to scare you..." He turned and slowly walked away and mumbled to himself. "Everyone is so scared of me."
You turned back and felt so terrible. You could tell Levi was being truthful and that he meant no harm and he was utterly crushed that someone else was scared. So, you did something a little brave. You moved closer to him and with a bit of courage shouted your name at him.
Levi's eyes widened at hearing your name. He turned quickly and locked eyes with you. His heart hammered in his chest as the wind light played with your hair. He admired the sparkle in your eyes, you were adorable to him.
You gulped hard and said your name again. "Th-that's my name. C-Come back again, okay?"
He smiled at you. "I will."
Levi did just what you asked, he came back to the same spot every day so the two of you just got used to the other. You were warming up to him and being less scared and Levi was trying to be less flustered. However, when you both would catch each other's eyes, you would instantly become flustered.
He would bring you gifts, mainly flowers from the underworld that were mostly different shades of blue and black. He would place it near the tree then sit a distance from it and watch you. The two of you would shyly talk now and then.
As confidence grew between the two of you, you both wanted more. It was you who decided to make the next move. As Levi lay back and rested under the shade of your oak, you moved over to him and knelt above his head. You lightly touched his soft raven hair and formed a flower crown.
Levi frowned at hearing your hushed giggles. He opened his eyes and looked up at you. He sucked in the air as his heart raced. "H-Hello."
You smiled softly. "I made you something."
He sat up and turned a little to gaze at you. "Wh-what did you make me?"
You reached over and lifted the crown off his head and showed him. "A flower crown. You're the God of death and the underworld, you're basically king. A King needs a crown."
His cheeks burned. "Th-thank you." He lowered his head. "C-Could you?"
You placed the crown on his head. "A cute king."
He lifted his head and smiled at you. "Thank you." He leaned closer and kissed your cheek, it was pure instinct to do it. He pulled back. "S-sorry if...I should have asked." He blushed when he saw flowers everywhere. "So many flowers. What happened?"
You crawled towards him and kissed him. You pulled back and noticed more flowers around you both. You smiled and kissed him again as Levi sat there blushing hard. "You make me bloom more."
Levi cupped the side of your face. "You make me bloom too. I like you so much. I want you as mine."
You sat on his lap and wrapped your arms around him. You hugged him and hummed in happiness. "I want to be yours."
He caressed your cheek with the back of his fingers as his eyes studied your face. He gasped when you kissed him again. "Y-You keep...you fluster me."
"Do you not like kisses?"
He cupped the side of your face. "I love them." He pressed his lips against yours and then lightly nipped your lip. When your lips parted his tongue slipped into your mouth. He moaned in delight.
You clung to Levi and kissed him back with just as much passion. You adored Levi so much. You couldn't believe that the man you used to be scared of was now always in your heart. You pushed him down against the ground as you kept kissing him.
You released Levi's lips and lay against him as the sun warmed you both up. "I'm happy."
Levi held you tightly. "I want to be with you. I'm worried though."
You leaned up and looked down at him. "Worried?"
"You belong here and I'm from the underworld. You create life and I take it." He sat up with you. "I have to go back to my world. I have a job there." He kissed you. "I will visit you often, I promise."
"I can't go with you?"
He shook his head. "Spring should be here, not in the underworld." He kissed you again. "I want to spend one last wonderful day with you."
Each moment with Levi was blissful. The two of you kissed often, hugged and ran around the field together. For a small moment, you danced under the full moon with whispers of adoration, devotion and love. When it got very late, you held each other on a bed of flowers under your tree.
As morning came, you parted with tears from both of you. Levi left you with love-filled promises and you knew very well he would honour them. However, your longing for the sweetest man in the universe grew. So, you travelled through the lands until you got to the famous river of Styx.
For a while, you pondered on what to send to your lover. So many things raced through your mind, but you knew there was one thing that would hint to him you longed to see him. With a delicate touch, you poured petals into the water and watched them float along and into the underworld.
Levi adjusted his suit and tapped on his smartphone as he gave out orders. He has sent you some gifts, but his heart longed for you. It'd been days since he tasted the sweetness that was your lips and held your warm body. He felt he would go mad if he were not to see you again.
"Sir? There is something in the river."
Levi paused and looked at one of his workers. "Something in the river?"
"Yes."
"Show me."
The worker guided his boss to the river before pointing to the petals gently flowing along. "See? Why aren't they dead?"
Levi's heart raced in his chest. Seeing the petals float along and not be drained of life meant that if you were to be with him, he would not drain you of beauty and life. He ordered for a jar to be handed to him. Once he had the jar, he scooped up the petals and admired them.
"Leviii!"
He looked up at a soft and loving voice calling him. His heart stopped when he saw you standing in the boat with Charon rowing it, a sweet smile on his face and a necklace made of flowers. Levi panicked when you jumped out of the boat early, he feared the river would hurt you because you were so full of life, but you easily splashed around in the river like it was just water and ran over to him.
You giggled as you held your dress up. "Leviii!" You leapt into his arms and squealed in delight. "Levi!"
He held you tightly and sighed your name. "Oh, my love, my darling, my sweet moonlight. How are you here?"
You showered his face with kisses. "I was sending petals to you when Charon came by and asked what I was doing. So, I asked him for a ride. I have no money, so I made him lots of flower gifts!" You grinned. "Doesn't he look cute?"
Charon was talking to Levi's workers and showing off his gifts with pride. "All the mortals will love me and feel comfortable coming with me now!"
Levi held you like a bride. "My sweet love, you are too kind."
You kicked your feet. "I just wanted to see you. I could barely sleep, eat or think without you. You're my world, Levi. There is not Spring and hope without you."
He tapped his forehead against yours. "You belong in the mortal world, not in a cold place of death."
"I belong with you. I will give up everything to be with you."
Levi purred in delight. "Well, I was going to say you belong in the mortal world, not in a cold place of death. However, you will remain here with me because I will never let you go back. You are mine and I am yours."
You felt your cheeks burn. "Levi, I wish to eat the forbidden pomegranate so that I may always be with you." You tilted your head and moved your lips closer. "I know very well it starts with you and your body."
Levi's body vibrated at your hint, you were suggesting that you wanted to eat him. "My darling love, tonight you are the pomegranate and I will eat all of you and enjoy every last drop."

My Lady
You were gazing out the window while in the blacksmith’s workshop when your father started to speak. "y/n, the King has requested a new sword," he said, "you will bring it to him."
However, his voice went unnoticed, for Lady Morgana was walking around the city, and had you enchanted and utterly in love. Morgana Pendragon, the King’s ward no less, was the most beautiful woman you’d ever seen, and she always left you dazed.
“y/n… Have you heard me?”
“Hmm, sorry father, what?”
“You should know where you stand, young one. A smith has no business with a Lady.”
“I know, father,” you muttered. “You were saying something about a sword…”
“Yes, the King has requested a new sword, perhaps for his son now that he’s grown to a man, and you will bring it to him.”
You agreed, partly because you had to, and partly because it would be a nice opportunity to see Morgana, if you were lucky enough to go one of the days she left the castle.
You knew you were playing with dangerous forces, not as dangerous as Merlin was, but dangerous still.
That day you put your best clothes on - that being the shirt without any holes nor marks from working steel, and the best scarf you owned - and made your way to the castle. On your way there you saw some nice flowers and thought of giving them to the Lady, but quickly decided against it. It would be out of place.
“y/n,” greeted you a quite joyous Morgana, “I didn’t know you were coming to the castle today.”
She looked well rested, and for a second you thought of asking about her sleep before realising where you stood. Those were no topics for you to ask a member of royalty.
“Yes, my Lady, my father asked to bring King Uther the new sword he requested,” you said the most formally you could.
“Please, y/n, how many times have I asked you to call me Morgana.”
She had indeed mentioned it a few times, “Not enough, my Lady.”
She frowned, and the thought of having made a mistake made your stomach ache; but truly, was she expecting any different? You decided to shrug off the slight tension and your eyes wandered through the clear skies.
“The day is beautiful, my Lady. If you are lucky you might still find the birds singing over the camps, a bit further south. Beautiful flowers as well,” you mused.
The morning was definitely beautiful, and you had been lucky to have woken up when the sun was starting to rise. Maybe it would’ve been nice to have some more rest, but the way the sun hid and shone over the clouds made you appreciate the early rising.
Your father always said the morning was for working, either on the farm or the shop, but he rarely took notice of the beauty it held. It was like nothing you had ever seen.
“Sounds like a joy to see,” she started, “perhaps after you make your delivery you can show me the way?”
The question caught you off guard, but not in a negative way, “I- I’d love to.”
You were sure the heat in your face was becoming noticeable and excused yourself; you did have a delivery to make.
Morgana understood and left you to your vices, not before asking if you were available later that afternoon. You certainly were. Especially for the time when the sky was most beautiful. When the gloom of the moon was becoming visible, and the warmth was cool enough not to be overwhelming. That was the peak of beauty.
The delivery was rather fast, but it didn't bother you. Perhaps it was even for the best; now you had time to prepare yourself for the walk with Lady Morgana.
When the time came to go to the hills you parted towards them, and waited in the nearby cabin where you had both agreed to meet.
She was already there, leaning into the cabin’s wooden wall, and you felt slightly guilty for keeping her waiting but the feeling vanished when she saw you and greeted you with a smile.
You both walked up the hill to a nice resting spot you had found weeks prior. Just a nice tree with some prominent roots that acted as seats and with long branches that provided the perfect shade for sunny days. It had been your escape place for some time, but you were happy to share it with her.
It was quiet for a while, with nothing but the chirping of birds in the air, when Lady Morgana asked, “How did you find this place, y/n?”
"Oh, I was just walking and stumbled upon it really.” You shrugged.
You often found yourself wandering around the castle’s grounds, climbing hills and getting lost.
Morgana just stared at you. Her eyes gazing all over your face, stopping at your lips for a moment, quickly going back to your own eyes.
“Well, I think it’s beautiful.”
“It is…” You repeated, looking at Morgana.
"May I kiss you, my Lady?" You stuttered softly.
"Only if you call me Morgana.” She smirked.
“May I kiss you, Morgana?” You said, your face heating up.
“You may, y/n.”

As soon as the wedding was over, Josef, Bea, and her mother left for the farm. There was no time to linger over the old cottage and all its sweet memories and bitter remorses, no time to brush fingers across the spot on the wall where Beatrice had spilled a bottle of ink as a child, or to kiss goodbye the trees she'd climbed as a girl. It was planting season, and she was a farmer's wife now. The farm must come first.
Except, Bea didn't yet feel like much of anybody's wife. Other than the addition of her new ring and the sight of her things in the bedroom and communal areas of the cabin, ever since she'd returned her borrowed wedding gown to Mrs. Landgraab, there wasn't much to signify that much beyond her location had changed. With the rush to resume planting, she had barely seen her husband save when they brushed up against each other while in the fields, or when he offered her a small smile at the well when they paused for a drink.
And yet, Bea knew Josef loved her. She knew it in that smile, she knew it in the way he took time to plant her a garden of herbs and flowers by the kitchen, she knew it when she saw the amused twitch of his mustache as he watched her coo over the baby chicks. They loved each other, the bustle of the farm just sometimes made it hard to show that.
Despite the hardships inherent in farm living, Bea loved their little patch of earth. The animals, especially. Bea had always loved animals, but hadn't had any since her last cat had died some months before her father grew ill. Oh, how she loved a warm, purring kitten—not that they had room for one on the farm. Farm animals were a different, but no less wonderful, source of joy. The chicks were an endless source of fluffy, fuzzy joy (and soon eggs) and the cows, with their large eyes and even temperaments, were sweet companions who didn't mind listening to her prattle on and who could be trusted to keep her secrets.
"I'll admit that farm life isn't necessarily what I thought it would be, Daisy," Bea chatted companionably with the Holstein cow Josef brought home the day he and Bea married, "but I do like many parts of it. I wasn't raised to be a farmer's wife, you see. I was supposed to be heading off to the University of Britechester this fall to get my B.A. in literature. There isn't much use for Chaucer or Dante on the farm, I'm afraid." At this, she laughed. "Unless of course you'd like to discuss Purgatorio or Boethius with me, Daisy dear."
"Sometimes, I confess, I'm still not sure how I ended up here after the life I planned for myself. Oh well, perhaps it is as our dear Mr. Tennyson said, 'Theirs not to reason why, theirs but to do and die." Oh dear, that's a bit morbid, isn't it? Maybe a bit of the good book then? 'Thou waterest the hills from thy upper rooms: the earth shall be filled with the fruit of thy works: bringing forth grass for cattle, and herb for the service of men. That thou mayst bring bread out of the earth and that wine may cheer the heart of man. That he may make the face cheerful with oil: and that bread may strengthen man's heart.'"
"Well, bread certainly strengthens my heart—even if I haven't exactly perfected how to make it yet—and wine does cheer the hearts of men, so let's pray for the grass for the cattle and herb for the service of men, and all shall be well, indeed!"
Later that evening, after dinner was (somewhat pitifully—Bea was new to cooking, to say the least) made and eaten, Bea took some time to herself to think over the day before joining Josef in their bedroom.
While it's true that she was settling nicely into life on the farm, and while she remained sure of Josef's affections, there was one area of her marriage that Bea found herself worrying about. Namely, the physical side of things.
Oh, she knew it wasn't proper for ladies to think about things, and she wasn't exactly dwelling on the topic, but she was concerned that Josef hadn't, er, broached the subject. She knew he'd been exhausted since the wedding from managing the planting from sunup to sundown, but what if it was more than that? What if...what if he loved her, but not in that way? His kisses were just as nice and frequent as they'd been during their brief engagement. More frequent, even. However, despite working the land together and sharing the same room, bed, and last name, he still acted as though they were courting. She half expected him to hold her hand in the parlor and then walk her home!
Bea arose sharply. Enough of this, she decided. There was only one thing to be done: no matter how she blushed or stammered, she must go and speak to her husband.
With that, she strode across the room, head held high, into the hallway, through the door to her room...
...only to find a still clothed Josef asleep on the bed.
With a weary little laugh, Bea plopped down on the chair next to the mirror. Well, it seems her little conversation was going to have to wait for another day. Bea sighed. Time to get ready for bed.

could you write how lords would react if Ethan killed the ray of sunshine lord you wrote earlier? how they would treat Ethan if they know that he killed their favourite person? will karl still propose him to team up? i really love these headcanons you wrote and i just want more <3333 plant soft lord is the best.

Here is the plant lord and there’s already a part one so go and read that first bc these directly relate to it! also this is angsty af but i’ve left it open ended for some more hc’s to come :)) enjoy!
Alcina Dimitrescu
When Alcina learns of your death she is not the only one to mourn you. The whole Dimitrescu family is devastated and heartbroken at the loss of such a beautiful soul like you.
She’s filled with rage that some man-thing could just take away someone so powerful yet so kind. When her screaming finally stops, Bela can be heard crying in her room and at family dinner that night everyone is silent. It’s just not the same without you.
Alcina has a grave made for you, one with a large headstone and surrounding it she laid beautiful flowers from the indoor garden you all made together as a family.
While she grieves for you, Alcina notices how strange it was for moss to grow around the surrounding stones so quickly but grief had clouded her mind to really think or notice too much about it.
She becomes even more protective of her daughters, not wanting to see them suffer the same fate you did. Alcina promises you that she would kill Winters on sight if she ever ran into him again.
Donna Beneviento
Donna has never taken death too well and losing you was no exception. She feels completely empty without you, not even Angie can comfort her sometimes with how much she misses you.
When she saw what Ethan had done to you it felt like apart of herself died with you. Donna spent the next few hours crying into your chest, begging someone to bring you back but she knew it was no use when the flowers and grass you were laying on turned to ash underneath you.
With the help of her dolls she manages to carry you back to the forest where she lays you to rest under a huge willow tree. She places one last kiss to your forehead before she lays down the doll she made for you.
Donna spends a lot of time in the forest after that as a way of staying close to you. Somehow when the trees blow in the wind it feels like you’re hugging her.
In the forest, Donna finds little white flowers appearing all over, the exact ones you used to grow from your palm. She leans down to pick one and tucks it behind her ear as she remembers how you used to give them to her.
Salvatore Moreau
Your death was one of the most painful things Salvatore has ever felt. He can’t even bring himself to feel angry at Ethan when all he feels is numbness from your death.
His heart sinks when he sees the lush and green scenery around the reservoir being to rot and die, the view now resembling what it looked like before your arrival only somehow much more gloomy.
The trees no longer have leaves and are left hollow and dead inside. The grass that you used to spend hours laying on, watching the clouds together is faded and grey. All these things remind Sal just how much he misses you.
Salvatore often sits by your grave which is up on the hill overlooking the reservoir. You said it was one of your favourite places because at sunset the water reflected the pink and orange sky, it was only fitting that your grave be there.
He’ll often talk to you and tell you about his day while he sits there, a coping mechanism if you will. But it usually ends with him bursting into tears as he realises you weren’t there with him.
While he’s lost in his grief and tears, Sal fails to notice how the dead tree which you’re buried next to begins to grow its leaves again, with beautiful pink blossoms growing on the top.
Karl Heisenberg
Karl is fuming, absolutely enraged that Ethan Winters, someone who he was willing to trust and team up with could go and take away someone so pure and precious to him.
It actually pains him to continue his plan to get revenge on Miranda, not only do all his Soldats have your nature-like embellishments but you were someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
There’s so much of you around the factory that his heart breaks just looking at the flowers, the vibes and the moss that are scattered throughout the dark hallways.
He figures the factory, a place that’s so metallic and industrial is no place for you to be laid to rest so he carries you to your home in the forest.
After finding a nice quiet spot near a stream, he brings his large hammer into his hands and disassembles it using his powers. He reworks the cogs and pieces of scrap metal to make a large metal wreath. Karl would’ve been upset at losing his favourite weapon if he hadn’t lost you first, besides he could always make another hammer, you were special.
When he places the wreath down, little vines and flowers grow in between the crevices of the metal. The action makes Karl break down on the spot as he cries, the action bringing up so many memories of the two of you together in his factory which now leave him feeling empty and as lonely as ever.

Until My Last Breath
↳Pairing: Jungkook x female reader
↳Genre: Smut (mild), Romance, Angst
↳Word count: 13.4k
↳Warnings: swearing, mild oral sex (f receiving), way too much making out, grinding (sort of?), mention of death. More than all of this Jeongguk is just fucking delicious in this fic (that’s the biggest warning i can give you)
↳Rating: 18+ (Don’t read if you are underage)
↳AU: werewolf! Jungkook + human OC
↳Summary: Sporting an undercut and tattoos Jeon Jungkook waltzes back in your life after 5 years of being away. You think you know him– and just when you think you have gotten close, he reveals a secret (or two). Following this, is a series of trials and tribulations that concludes in a way you never expect.
(Alternatively: the one where Jungkook creates a mess out of you)
➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾➾
Your hands hurt from holding the grocery bags. Mrs. Jeon did offer her help but you refused because she has so much to do. If anything Jimin should have accompanied you considering that he’s always going on about how he’d marry you if he could.
Alas, he wasn’t there either because being the beta of the pack meant he had to run morning training and education with the younger children since Jungkook wasn’t there. Generally this was something the alpha of the pack would do-- but Mr. Jeon was busy with the politics of the werewolf and human world. Had Jungkook been here he would have been running the session seeing as he is next in line to be alpha of the pack. But he was miles away on the other side of the country. He has been for five years and truth be told you can’t even remember what his face looks like anymore.
With thoughts such as that the only accompaniment, you march along with as much energy you can muster at each step. The house comes into view. Once again with no other company but your own to entertain yourself you take a drip down memory lane. You remember the awe you first felt when Mr. Jeon brought you to the house. Your father had just passed away while on a drug raid. Mr. Jeon being his best friend brought you with him.
In the early days, the entire family tried to hide their secret. But then on a full moon, you curiously followed Jungkook out and watched as he transformed from man into a beast. Initially, you wanted to scream with horror, but the air got stuck in your throat when he began approaching you. Rooted to the spot and with no escape, Jungkook-- rather his wolf form nuzzled his nose against your neck and whimpered. The fear was gone just like that. All night long, you accompanied him, roaming the forest behind the house getting into all sorts of trouble. When the effect of the full moon began to fade during the early hours of the morning you remember sneaking back into the house and rummaging through his room to get him clothes for when he transformed back.
You kick the giant black gate open and walk down the cemented pathway flanked on either side by lawns outlined with a variety of flowers. To your left was the gazebo that Mr. Jeon built when you were sixteen as a birthday present because that happened to be your obsession at the time.
As the foyer nears, you see a huge commotion outside. It seemed everyone and their mother was present. With urgency in your steps only worsened by curiosity, you reach in no time. You stand on your tiptoes to get a view of what was happening, however, the five grocery bags in your hands weigh you down.
Momentarily the crowd parts. You see the outline of a face that isn’t recognizable-- the hoodie covering half the profile.
“What is going on?” you gather the courage to speak loudly against the chatter of the crowd.
It is loud enough to get the talking to stop and everyone turns to you, including the mysterious stranger.
He pulls his hoodie down.
The grocery bags drop from your hands, just as your mouth hangs open.
“Jungkook is back!” one of the kids tugs at your arm in excitement.
Well shit. You never could have recognized him even if someone planted his younger version of right next to him. He is probably just shy of 6 feet tall. Although engulfed in a black crewneck, you could tell he was built. His dark wash ripped blue jeans contour his thighs to perfection and just when you think he couldn’t have changed further you notice his hair. He had gone off and gotten himself an undercut. His hair was on the longer side, and it was parted to the left of his head while the undercut was visible on the right. He had even gone so far as to get tattoos that adorned his fingers, and his forearm-- a music note. Well now you were fucked because how could you ever resist a man with that kind of hairstyle and tattoos.
Correction, how could you resist a fucking werewolf who wears an undercut and has tattoos?
“Y/n?” he speaks and you swear you could have heard angels speaking to you.
You keep mum. In fact, you can’t even hear him. You’re too busy undressing him with your eyes. Your heart pounds, your knees feel weak because this man is simply too gorgeous to exist. How the hell is everyone else standing on their two feet while you feel like you’re going to fall any moment?
You say something. You have no idea what exactly because your ears are ringing, but you know something comes out of your mouth which causes everyone around you to giggle. You might as well just turn around and go hide somewhere because you’ve probably made a fool of yourself.
“Huh” comes his deep voice, but it’s faint. His remark only makes you wonder what you spat out.
“It’s hot” you fan yourself with your hand. Your mouth is parched, dry like the desert. “You-- Wow. You look--nice to--- welcome. I mean, g-good— to” you look at him, and pause to collect your thoughts. “Good to have you back. I think...” you are completely breathless and dazed by the end of that word salad. Your forehead scrunches in a frown as you try to shake away the magic spell his presence has cast on you. You don’t even bother to wait for a response as you run back down the pathway you came. You follow it out of the gate and turn the corner. A few paces up the hill you come upon the gated entrance to the forest.
You hear someone calling you out, but you’re a damn mess. You aren’t willing to let anyone see you like that. You run as far into the forest as your legs will carry you-- far, far, away from him.
You can finally understand the phrase “avoid like the plague” because that’s what you have been doing to Jungkook. For the past four days since he has been back, you have done anything and everything you can to avoid him. If you see him in the house, you immediately make a u-turn for your room. If you see him outside, you hide behind anything you can find-- a pillar, a bush, a tree, a car, another fucking human being.
Of course it doesn’t help that everyone tries to keep pushing you to him. Well, mostly his parents. But also random people like the ladies in Mrs. Jeon’s book club who on Saturday made a spectacle out of you.
“Come on, pose for a photo” they had said when they saw you and Jungkook out and about the house. You weren’t even looking at one another when they swarmed you and him, taking you by the arm and making you stand next to one another. They didn’t even ask nicely-- no. They demanded that you and Jungkook take a photo because apparently you two look amazing together. Despite your protests, and vigorous head shaking-- they basically pushed you to him, and thankfully he managed to steady you on your feet by catching your waist.
His arm around your waist as he holds you flush against him and your hand on his forearm while you two looked at one another-- that’s the picture they took. You may as well have just gotten a whole fucking photoshoot done while you were at it.
“Y/n’s probably always had a crush on him” one of the ladies, Mrs. Ri had mentioned while all the others including Mrs Jeon crowded around to look at the picture on the camera.
A tomato couldn’t be more red than you and that's saying something. All Jungkook did in response was shrug at you like he was enjoying it. Normally a man might object to being treated this way. But he didn’t utter a single word. Only he looked quite amused by the whole situation and your reaction as he smiled and chuckled to himself.
On the other hand, his parents always mentioned in his absence that they would love if you and him got together. You never paid any mind to those conversations in particular because it was Jungkook— atleast how you remembered him before he became a fucking Adonis. Not that it’s the only thing that matters. But you just never felt this way before, and now you do.
You tiptoe through the house while everyone is busy at this time of day. Mrs.Jeon is probably with all the other ladies for their book club, Mr.Jeon no doubt is in his study and Jimin is probably with Jungkook, training.
It sucks to be the only human sometimes because they can always hear you, and know what you’re thinking. But you can’t do the same. It makes you feel vulnerable. But everyone is good at reminding you about how lucky you are to be human.
You traipse through the living room, peeking behind from walls here and there to make sure Jungkook isn’t around because if you see him you’re sure you’ll lose your shit. Again.
There is a certain chunk of the wooden floor that creaks under pressure so you take care to avoid it. Because in case Jungkook is anywhere inside the house he’ll hear it.
Creak
“Fuck” you mutter, shutting your eyes tight and carefully lifting your toes from the damned spot which makes another sound.
You hear footsteps on the stairs behind you. Too scared to move, you straighten up.
“I was wondering when I’ll see you again” comes Jungkook’s voice.
“Heeeyyy” you turn around, plastering a smile on your face and it screams fake.
“Four days huh. Good job” Jungkook looks impressed as he comes down to ahalt at the last step . “How did you manage to avoid me for four whole days? I am curious”
“You knew”
“Of course I knew” he’s mouth moves as he chews gum, one brow raised at you, looking absolutely devilish (in the best way possible). “Too bad the streak has come to end” he places his hands in pockets lining his black sweats.
Well fuck. No point in denying it anymore then.
“If it wasn’t for this stupid floor I could have gone the whole week. Probably” you decide to give in instead of pretending you have no idea what he’s talking about.
He steps towards you, one corner of his mouth curved up in a sly smirk. “That would never happen. You’d have made a mistake at some point before that”
“Maybe” you shrug. You’re so surprised that you’re able to find your words this time. “Welcome back by the way” you offer a genuine smile, trying to make up for that botched attempt when he first arrived.
“Thanks. It’s good to be back” he sighs contentedly. “I missed this place and the people.” he looks around and then his gaze comes to rest on you. “Well, one person in particular” he looks you straight in the eyes.
“Your mom” you reply. He loves his mother.
“Yes. But also someone else”
“Who?” curiosity gets the best of you.
“Just someone” he shrugs.
You’re about to respond when Jimin comes in. “What are you two doing here?” he looks at Jungkook as he stops next to you, throwing an arm around your shoulder.
Wordlessly, Jungkook’s eyes change color from his hazel brown to icy blue. He steps towards you and Jimin, and then pulls Jimin’s hand away from your shoulder. He looks at the boy, jaw grinding as he chews gum. “Can I talk to you for a sec?” his voice is calm, but his eyes are absolutely terrifying since they harbour a cold, mean look. They change back to brown in an instant once Jimin nods. You notice how tense Jimin looks but he walks with Jungkook anyway.
They’re probably only gone for thirty seconds. But when they come back their body language is completely relaxed. They look like two pals reunited after years.
“Everything okay?” you ask Jimin.
“Yeah. All good” he nods. “I was just congratulating him”
“What for?” you look between the two of them, feeling awfully suspicious.
Jimin is about to open his mouth when he catches Jungkook’s gaze. Jungkook shakes his head and you notice, at which point you turn to him. “Fine. I don’t want to know” you huff. You start towards the back door which leads to the backyard where Mrs. Jeon is with her friends.
Just a couple steps in, you’re tugged back. You turn around to find Jungkook holding onto your wrist. There is something about the way he looks at you. You’ve seen this look before in movies—it’s the way the hero looks at the heroine when he thinks she isn’t looking. It’s soft, but it’s wanting-- a complete contrast from the way he glared the life out of Jimin just minutes ago. He looks like he’s got something to say, but he’s holding back.
“What is it?” your voice is quiet, like you’re too scared to speak out. As if your voice will give away the crazy whirlwind of emotions in your chest.
“Nothing” he blinks and lets go of your wrist. “See ya around” he turns on his heels and walks the other way as Jimin follows him.
The woods at this time of the night are majestic. Moonlight bathes the tops of trees in a silver glow. The moonlight filters through gaps in tree branches, and covers the ground in a white sheen. It looks nothing short of magical.There is a slight chill in the wind, but it’s nothing you aren’t used to. The fallen leaves crunch under your feet. Sounds of crickets chirping, owls hooting fills the air.
You walk through the pathway bordered on each side by large trees the branches of which meet in the middle above you, forming an archway. You feel safe in the womb of nature like you’re protected and nothing could touch you. Without fear, it’s easier for you to take in everything. The air you breathe feels fresh, and crisp. If you could, you would make time stop so you could stay in the woods at night and never have to leave.
As each step carries you further into the woods, you feel more and more at peace. The trees become more lush the further you go. The animals are more noticeable deep into the forest. You see squirrels running around the trees, there are bird nests high up in the branches. You can hear mockingjays in these parts of the forest too.
You stop by the clearing in the woods. This side of the woods is your favorite. You sit against the trunk of one of the trees, resting your head. You look at nothing in particular in the sky. It’s clear above you, with a full moon shining. Your mind immediately goes back to Jungkook as you gaze upon it. You feel tortured every time your thoughts turn to him. You don’t know if it’s normal for you to want to cry, but you’re already shedding tears. Your quiet sobs accompany the sounds of nature. The weight seems to be lifting off your shoulders, and it feels easier to breathe. But then you think of him and that someone he mentioned. It causes you to sob even harder. You hiccup, using the back of your hands to wipe away the tears.
“What’s wrong?”
You can’t forget that voice. You look up at Jungkook as he stands with his hands in his jean pockets.
You shake your head. “Nothing. I just-- I miss--” you begin to cry again. “I-I miss my dad” another sob escapes your throat.
“Can I give you a hug?” he asks in a soft voice, which makes you want to cry even harder. “Please”
You nod.
He comes over, sits down next to you and gathers you in his arms. He pulls you into himself, wrapping your arm around his side, as he holds you. You place your cheek against his chest as you hold him close. It may have started because of him, but it continues because you do miss your dad. The moment you said “dad” was when you knew you couldn’t stop even if you wanted to.
“I am sorry y/n” he strokes the back of your head. “I really am” he sniffles.
You pull back to find tears staining his cheeks. “Why are you crying?” you look up at him.
His gaze is locked onto yours. “Because, I can feel what you feel”
“Sorry. I forgot you’re a werewolf” you shift back on your spot, forcing his arm to fall from your shoulder.
He opens his mouth to say something but then closes it. He looks at you a few seconds longer. “Yeah. That’s it” he says, blinking and a lone tear escapes. Your fingers twitch at your side, needing to wipe it away. But it might be too weird so you let your fingers curl into a fist.
“Thank you for doing this” your mouth curves in a soft smile. “How did you find me here?”
“I’ve seen you in the woods for the past four nights. I didn’t know who it was at first because I only saw a flash of your hair, or your shoes. But today I followed you and it’s good I did because pretty girls like you shouldn’t be crying alone”
You snort. “Right. Pretty girls like me”
He raises a brow. “You don’t believe me?”
“I believe you. I just don’t believe your words”
“Then tell me what I can do to make you believe me” he states. You’re sure he isn’t serious but one look at him tells you he means every single word.
“Jungkook, it’s alright. You don’t have to do anything” you shake your head. But then it strikes you. “Although there is something…”
“Anything” the corners of his mouth upturned in a soft smile-- one that made your heart skip a beat (or ten maybe).
“I want to see your wolf form” you look at him tentatively, wondering if he’ll turn you down, or maybe even shout at you for making a request. Asking a werewolf to show their wolf is a sacred request and not something that should be asked lightly. You know how important their wolf form is to them. It’s like talking about sex among humans, but much more of a touchy subject.
“That’s it?” his eyebrows are furrowed together at the miniscule nature of your request.
“So you’ll show me? Can you do it on your own will?” your hands clasp in front of your chest in anticipation.
A laugh bellows from his chest. “Of course. I’ll show you he stands up, dusts his hands, and the back of his jeans. “You may want to close your eyes because I need my clothes for later”
Without needing to be told in exact terms, you close your eyes and cover them with your hands for good measure. You can hear sounds of feet shuffling, a belt unbuckling and soft thuds—probably his clothes dropping ctx dagainst the soil.
“I’ll count to five and then open. One, Two, Three, Four, Five”
You give it a few more seconds just in case before you’re uncovering your eyes. Standing in front of you is a majestic white wolf, with icy blue eyes-- Jungkook’s eyes. Your mouth falls open, your mind unable to come up with words. You cautiously step towards him, hand reaching out wanting to touch him. He meets you halfway, nuzzling his nose against your hand. You laugh.
“You’re beautiful Jungkook” you whisper as you stroke the fur, which is softer than velvet against your hand.
The wolf whimpers in response.
“What can you do as a wolf? Any tricks?” you ask, forgetting that he’s not a dog.
He growls, baring his teeth.
You throw your hands up. “Geez. Sorry. I was just curious” you reach for his muzzle as you continue stroking gently to help him calm down.
He steps back, turns around and starts further into the forest.
“Where are you going?” you ask.
He whimpers and motions beyond the clearing with his head. You start to follow, when you remember his clothes and grab them. He’s already a few paces ahead of you. It seems that even his wolf isn’t patient.
“Slow down will you?” you yell as you run to try and catch up. He doesn’t listen though as he continues on.
You’re breathless by the time you reach a beautiful meadow full of wildflowers and fallen timber. Flowing right next to the meadow is a stream littered with little stones and large rocks alike. Moonlight shines through the cracks between tree branches above you. The air is cooler than you have ever experienced in this part of the woods. The grass is lush and soft beneath your feet unlike the rest of the forest which is mostly soil. You don’t know how you never came upon this place on your walks. But then again Jungkook probably knows the forest best.
He is stopped at the edge of the stream. You drop the pile of his clothes on a log, and walk towards the stream. You crouch and place your hand in the running stream. The icy cold water sends shivers down your body. You flick some of the water on him, at which point he growls at you again.
“This is fun” you chuckle as you get up.
He whimpers as he tackles you to the ground, and nuzzles his nose in your neck.
“It tickles, it tickles, it tickles” you laugh as you try to push him away. You doubt you could have pushed him away in his human form but as a wolf it’s impossible. You rub your hand against his fur. He mewls and falls on his back next to you and you rub his underbelly. He loves it as he continues to make these cute noises and all you want to do is hug him.
A twig snaps somewhere in the distance. Jungkook jumps up to his feet, growling, teeth showing as he paces in front of you looking in the direction of the sound. He continues to snarl and growl, pacing increasing in speed. He looks ready to kill. You abandon your perch on the grass in favor of standing up. You tread towards him. At this point you’re more scared of what he’s doing rather than where the sound came from. You reach him, stopping by his side. You look at him— at those blue eyes of his, and take a step forward but he’s quick to nudge you back with his head.
“It’s alright” you reassure him as you caress the top of his head.
You try once more to step beyond where he’s standing but he gives another push and you tumble back slightly. He snarls at you as he looks back at you over his shoulder, warning you to stay in your place. He turns back to inspect the woods, pacing from side to side.
“Alright. Fine” you give up. “But please don’t do anything. It could just an animal like a squirrel or something”
Ears perked up, he stands towering in front of you.
“I don’t think it was anything” you stay in your spot, as you place your hand on his flank.
He holds up his nose, moving his head in every direction like he’s trying to smell something out. He starts stepping back, his rump hitting you as he does. He turns around, leaning his muzzle against your shoulder, like he’s trying to comfort you and find comfort in you.
“It’s okay” you whisper, skimming his fur. “We’re fine” you wrap your arm around his neck.
He lets out a small cry as he snuggles into you.
“I brought your clothes by the way” you let go of him and he steps back. “I think it’s best if we go home. It’s already 1”
He steps back a few paces and disappears behind a tree while you turn around and wait for him.
“Give me a sign whenever you’re done” you call out. You wait and wait for what seems like ten minutes but is really only a minute or two.
He clears his throat. “I am good.” he says.
You turn around to face him. You really missed seeing his face-- in the human form. He was majestic in his wolf form, but there is something about the human side of him that you can’t get over. In all honesty, he’s a sight to behold.
“So, what did you think?” he rubs his hands together in anticipation.
“You’re amazing” you meet him halfway. “I’ve seen almost everyone’s wolf form. But yours is breathtaking”
He chuckles. “Thank you. I am sure he’s happy to hear it too” he closes the distance. He reaches for your hand, curling his fingers around your palm. It’s the warmest feeling you have ever felt.
You open your mouth to protest but he’s already cutting you off.
“I am not letting go, until we’re out of these woods.” he tugs on your hand as he turns around and begins towards the house.
“Thank you. It is sweet of you to protect me”
“It’s my job to protect you. I will always be there when you need me” he squeezes your hand in reassurance.
It’s nice to know that you have someone in your corner. “I wish I could say the same. But you don’t need me to protect you”
He nods. “You’re right. But if I ever need a hug, I know who to come to”
Little does he know that you are ready to give him the whole wide world. “Anytime”
Your eyes lock for a few seconds and both of you burst into grins.
Walking in the forest by yourself is always peaceful. But walking in these woods hand in hand with Jungkook is euphoric.
A pang of dread fills your chest when Jungkook ignores you.
Just when you thought things were going good, he distanced himself. You don’t know what went wrong in the days following the night in the woods. But he was avoiding you. It wouldn’t have felt so bad were it not for the fact that the way he ignored you was cold. It wasn’t like you where it was more benign in nature and it was clear that you were avoiding him for fear of embarrassing yourself. He knew that too. But with him it’s something else
He wouldn’t even look at you. A frown seemed to have permanently settled on his face. He was never present anymore. He was always lost in thought with an inscrutable look in his eyes. If you showed up where he was, he’d leave wordlessly. If you tried to talk to him he’d act like he couldn’t even hear you and that would be followed by his departure. And when he did look at you-- the only way to interpret the expression in his eyes was: resentment. You had no idea why he was doing that.
So as the whole family, including Jimin was sitting in the backyard under the canopy for breakfast, Jungkook made to leave just as you were approaching to join them. But his mother made him sit back down.
“Jungkook, you’re not going to leave” her tone is stern.
He rolls his eyes with a huff as he sits back down.
“What’s wrong with you dude?” Jimin leans in, thinking he’s whispering but his voice is a tad bit louder than that.
Even you can hear him just as you are a few steps away.
“Nothing” his voice is devoid of emotion. He leans back in his chair, sliding down against the back like he just wants to disappear. He fiddles with his fingers.
“Hi everyone” you offer a tight lipped smile. Everyone except for Jungkook replies. “Hi Jungkook” you say after not being met with a response.
He stays silent, holding the same sulked posture as before, not even acknowledging your presence.
You catch Jimin’s eyes. He gestures with his head to Jungkook as if to ask ‘what’s up’. You shrug because you have no clue what has gotten into him. You take the empty chair next to Jungkook and you can see him shifting in his chair uncomfortably. Your heart sinks in your chest, but you dismiss it. You look over at Jimin sitting on the opposite side of the table. He looks between you and Jungkook and you just know he’s thinking something. You both look at each other-- a silent conversation ensuing.
“Oh no. I forgot the cutlery” Mrs. Jeon jumps suddenly. She gets up when you interrupt.
“It’s okay. I can grab it” you gesture for her to sit down. “Do you want that special set?” you smile at her.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve all been together like this. I think it’s time we use it. This is a special occasion. The box is in the attic. Will you be okay?”
“It’s okay. I got it” you put her concern to rest with a grin.
You glance at Jungkook who still hasn’t moved an inch as he is still playing with his fingers and ignoring everyone around him. You make way inside the house, and up the stairs to the second floor. The entrance to the attic is on the second floor. You turn right on the landing, moving towards your room and at the end of the hallway. You pull the rope which unfolds the ladder. It comes down, you climb it and reach the musty room.
It’s full of boxes. You rummage through them to find the one labeled cutlery. The box is quite heavy, but you manage to climb down with it safely. You push the ladder back up, and the door closes blending in with the rest of the ceiling. You carry the box down the first two flights of stairs, slightly shaking because of how heavy it is.
You lose your footing at the beginning of the third set of stairs and down you go five stairs. The box slips from your hand. A scream rips through the air. You manage not to hit your head. But your ankle twists during the fall. You’re laying on your side attempting to get up when everyone rushes into the room.
Jungkook is the first one to arrive. “Are you okay?” he helps you sit up and you wince.
It hurts so damn much, you can’t stop yourself from crying. “I- I am” you grimace. “I am fine” you croak through a strained voice, tears sliding down your cheeks.
“No. You’re not” he cups your cheeks to make you look at him. He inspects your head for injuries. “You’re not fucking fine” he’s pissed as he’s practically at the verge of yelling. “What the fuck were you thinking?” he slides an arm under your back, and the other under your knee as he picks you up off the floor. You lock your hands behind his neck, keeping your gaze cast down. You don’t want to look at him in this condition.“I am taking her to her room” he announces, and no one even gets a word in because he’s already started up the flight of stairs.
You try to contain your cries, but the pain is too sharp especially at your ankle. You can sense him looking down at you.
“What were you trying to do?” he shakes his head. You should have called for help, you idiot”
“Sorry” you snivel still not meeting his eyes. “I was just trying to bring the box down and I lost my footing”
You reach the room, and he kicks the ajar door fully open. Once you’re in, he kicks it close. He gently lays you down on the bed, adjusting the pillow underneath your head.
You wince in pain, wiping away the tears. For the first time you look at him and he’s pacing, like he was in the woods except he’s in his human form. “Where does it hurt?” he sounds concerned but it’s that angry kind of way. There is no softness in his tone, if anything its gruff.
“You don’t have to worry. I am okay”
“Bullshit” he stops and sits at the edge of the bed, as he takes off your shoe and sock to look at your ankle. He touches the ankle bone, and you inhale a sharp breath. “See” he shakes his head like he’s disappointed. “That looks like it’s sprained. You could have asked--”
“You for help?” you complete his sentence, full well knowing that’s what he intended.
His eyes flicker to you, but he doesn’t say anything. He begins to gently feel around your ankle for any other injuries, brows furrowing in concentration.
You watch him, as he continues to look for other wounds,or gashes-- scanning your legs, arms, and face. You can’t understand the sudden shift in his behaviour. “What are you doing?”
He stops to look at you. “What do you mean? I am checking for any other injuries” he says in a blunt tone and resumes inspection.
“That’s not what I mean” you push his hands away from your forearms just as he’s looking over for more bruises. “Why do you suddenly give a shit? What do you care if I live or die”
He opens his mouth, closes it, opens it again and shuts it, grinding his jaw. “I’ll grab ice” he ignores your question and gets up from the bed.
You tug him back by the hem of his sleeve. “I need an answer”
“I don’t have one” he yanks his arm, and the cloth slips from your fingers.
“This is what I am talking about” you bite the inside of your cheek just as he’s approaching the door “One minute you act like you give a crap about me, and the next you act like you wouldn’t blink an eye if I died”
He’s reaching for the doorknob when he turns around. His brown wide eyes stare back at you He scoffs. “I wouldn’t care if you died?” his disbelief reflects in his partly open mouth. Do you---” he covers his face with his hands, taking in deep breaths and letting his hands run through his locks before looking at you. “You have no fucking clue what you’re talking about” he turns around and reaches for the door when there is a knock.
He sighs in frustration. “Who the hell--” he opens the door.
Jimin stands on the other side of the door with an ice pack in his hand, and a bottle of what looks like medicine. Jimin peeks over Jungkook’s shoulder, about to say something. But Jungkook grabs the ice pack and medicine wordlessly and shuts the door in his face.
He walks back and presses the ice pack to your ankle, while holding the tiny bottle out for you.
“I don’t want it” you say sharply, looking to the side.
You hear him huff. “Do I look like I give a shit right now?” he seethes through clenched teeth.
You turn to him. “You know this whole tough guy act doesn’t scare me”
He pulls his lower lip between his teeth. If this were a cartoon he would have smoke coming out of his ears. “Just take it”
You study him, your gazes locked on each other. Neither of you even blink. His nostrils are still flaring and you’re still breathing heavily through pursed lips. “I hate you” you snatch the bottle from him and chug the bitter liquid down.
His expression changes for a moment-- the look in his eyes softens. He blinks, casting his gaze down momentarily. But then he’s back to carrying a frown on his face as he looks up at you. “You should. You shouldn’t like me at all” his tone gentler than before, hiding beneath it an infinity of disappointment that you catch.
“Well now I don’t. You damn well made sure of that” you grab the pillow next to you and hide your face behind it.
Seconds later you hear the door slam and that’s when you scream into the pillow.
Your ankle gets better in the next couple of weeks, but your relationship with Jungkook doesn’t. You’re still distant from each other. Still angry at each other. Your silent fight has tensed the atmosphere in the whole house. It’s awkward to say the least. Mr. and Mrs. Jeon skirt around you both, walking on eggshells whenever you are in a room together. Dinners are silent for the most part except for when his parents make conversation about their day.
You both ignore each other. Neither of you even looks in the direction of the other person. If you happen to pass each other in the house, you avoid each other.
Perhaps everyone has had enough-- especially Mrs. Jeon since she broaches the subject at dinner one night.
“Alright” she holds her fingers in a steeple. “What the hell is wrong with you two?”
You and Jungkook glance at each other wary of how she’s speaking because she never swears-- not even use the word ‘hell’.
You both say at the same time. “Nothing”
“Bullshit” she slams her hands on the table.
“Honey” Mr. Jeon looks at her.
She dismisses it. “ No. We’re going to address this”
“Mom” Jungkook looks at her warningly. “Don’t”
“What happened?” she looks at you. “He won’t tell me” she glances at her son from the periphery of her vision. “But I know you will”
“Nothing. I promise” you offer a half hearted smile.
“I wasn’t expecting this from you y/n” she sounds disappointed.
“Mrs. Jeon. I swear to you it’s nothing. Even if there is something we can sort it out amongst ourselves”
“Well that’s just the problem isn’t it. You’re not. You don’t even look at each other”
You avert your gaze sideways.
“Just drop it will you?” Jungkook sounds frustrated. “We’re good” he doesn’t even look sincere in the least bit.
You nod finding purchase in your lap, barely making eye contact with anyone.
“Whatever it is, apologize” she demands. She looks to Jungkook, raising her brows at him expectantly. She waits for him to say something. He avoids looking at her but she is persistent. It’s only for a few seconds but he crumbles under the pressure and mumbles a “sorry”
“Look at her and say it” Mrs. Jeon says curtly.
He looks at you, eyes meeting yours for the first time in weeks.
Something changes in you and once again you feel like crying just because he’s there.
“Sorry” he looks away, folding his arms across his chest and chewing on his lip.
“Well you can tell him Mrs. Jeon that if he isn’t going to mean it, I don’t accept it” you glance at her and then back at your lap, leaning against the chair.
“You can tell her that this is all she’s getting from me” he looks at his mother too.
“Tell him that he’s the one who started it. So, if he can’t even own up to it there really is no point in talking about it” your cheeks feel warm as you keep your gaze fixed firmly on your lap.
“While you’re at it mom, you can tell her that she shouldn’t be talking about things when she doesn’t know what’s going on” Jungkook rolls his eyes.
Your nostrils flare and so do his. You’re breathing heavily, cheeks red and eyes wide. “Maybe Mrs. Jeon you can remind him that he never actually told me what his problem is” you glare at him.
She looks between the two of you and your both lower your gaze.
Jungkook scoffs, returning an equally contemptuous glare towards you. “I don’t have a problem. It’s not my fault she doesn’t understand I don’t actually want to talk to her”
“Great! you throw your hands in the air and look at his parents. “You can tell him he’s the biggest asshole I have ever met in my entire life and I regret ever feeling anything for him” you slam your hands on the table and storm off.
The breeze is cool as it caresses your face. You sniffle away the tears as they well up in your eyes. The woods seem to be the only thing that can comfort you. You walk down your usual pathway, hugging yourself against the chill. As you look around at the moon bathed trees, they look different to you. But they don’t seem as beautiful to you as they did when you were with Jungkook.
The whole forest feels different.
You reach the clearing once more where he found you. You’re overcome with emotion, and your eyes tear up once again. You choke a sob away. You sit against the same tree, look at the same clear sky blanketed by stars. His voice echoes in your head when he asked if he could give you a hug.
You don’t know what happened to that boy. You don’t know where he went and if he will ever come back. You thought he was a friend. But it turns out he wasn’t. He’s just a stranger that you used to know.
You’re immersed in your thoughts. You look down at your hands, a bittersweet sigh passing your lips.
There is a rustle in the bushes near you and you’re immediately on alert. You slowly stand up trying not to make any sudden movements. You look in the direction of the sound and see two glowing brown eyes staring at you.
Your breath catches in your throat. You don’t straighten up fully, for the fear of aggravating whatever animal it is, so you stay in a partly bent position, hands visible by your side.
The animal steps out from behind the shadows.
It’s a wolf-- a black one. It’s not Jimin because his fur is brown. It sure as hell isn’t Jungkook.
The wolf growls at you. It steps towards you like a predator towards prey.
Full blown panic sets in. You’re frozen on the spot. Your heart beats hard and fast, as if the sound rings in your ears. Is this how you die? Alone in the woods? Your whole life flashes in your mind. Among all of that the only name and face that echoes in your head is Jungkook’s because you would hate to die and not have a chance to talk to him. That would be the biggest regret of your life.
The wolf is still approaching you, and it’s halfway there. It growls and snarls-- saliva dripping from its mouth.
“Oh please no” you whisper, as your knees begin to buckle.
The wolf takes a leap towards you. But at the end second, you see a white one knocking the black one out mid air. They both fly some distance and fall on the ground.
“Jungkook!” you scream running in his direction.
Those blue eyes look back at you as he gets up on all fours.He keeps growling at the other wolf.. You know better than to interfere, so you stay behind him. Both of them snarl at each other. The other wolf howls, probably to try and intimidate Jungkook. But then he howls-- it’s loud and fierce so much so that you have to close your ears. He then makes a sound that is a mix between a roar and a growl as he steps towards the wolf.
“Jungkook no” you hold your hand out for him but he’s just beyond your reach. He looks back at you. You shake your head. He turns to the other wolf and makes a sound that sounds like a threatening bark.
There is a moment where they both just look at each other. Then the other one whimpers and leaves-- tail between its legs quite literally.
Your knees give out and you fall on the ground, sobbing and hugging yourself. Your cries fill the air. You sob hard enough to make your whole body shake. You have never felt such fear in your life and not just for yourself. You were more worried for Jungkook.
He comes running to you, fully clothed somehow. He immediately holds you in his arms. He holds you close, chin resting on the top of your head, as you bury your face in his chest, body shaking in his arms. You can’t even breathe properly-- gasping for air with short shallow breaths.“Jungkook” you whimper, holding onto his shirt.
“I am here” he squeezes tighter. “I am right here. You’re safe”
“I-I” you pull back to look up at him, eyes swollen and red, tears still falling down your face in droves. “I thought you were going to...” you bawl again just at the thought of something happening to him. You hide your face against his chest, wrapping your arms against him so tight, you’re sure he’s having a hard time breathing.
“I am okay. I am not even hurt” he reassures you.
“I was so…” you hiccup. “Worried that--that s-some-something w-would happen to you” you manage to choke out the words.
“Look at me” he holds your face in his hands, wiping away the tears with his thumbs. “I am completely okay. I was worried for you. I was scared. I was so so scared” he gazes into your eyes, and you know he’s speaking the truth because he’s beginning to cry too.
You sniffle, trying to control your sobs so you can tell him. “The only thing I could think of was you. I didn’t want to die without talking to you. I was afraid I would never get to talk to you”
“Me too” he croaks. “You didn’t get hurt anywhere did you?” there is panic in his eyes as he suddenly realizes that.
You shake your head. “No. You saved me”
“I told you I’d always protect you didn’t I?” he snivels.
Your lips just in a pout, lips quivering. “How did you know?” you slide your thumbs against his cheeks to wipe the tears.
“I came to the woods to cool off for a bit” he stops to rub the tears from your cheeks as the water works start again. “I was just so pissed, so naturally my wolf took over and I transformed. I was just roaming around, when I could smell you. I followed your scent. I saw the whole thing and trust me, my heart almost stopped. I was waiting for the right moment to intervene and when that wolf jumped at you, I lost it”
“I am sorry I said all those things” you clutch the material of his shirt tighter, looking down.
“No. I started this whole shit and if I hadn’t you wouldn’t have gotten into trouble. I could have lost you tonight and it would have been my fault. I could never forgive myself” he takes your hands in his, curling his fingers in yours. “I am so so sorry”
“So we’re good?” you chuckle.
He doesn’t laugh with you. “Look, if this night has proved anything, it’s that you shouldn’t like me. I told you. Don’t like me. I am not right for you. I am not even good for you. Look at where I landed you tonight” his fingers begin to slip from yours.
“You’re wrong” you hold tight onto his hands.
“I can’t y/n” he avoids your eyes, his shoulders droop. He looks absolutely defeated.
“What’s the reason?” you press on. “Is it someone else?”
“No” he’s quick to shut down that train of thoughts in your head. “There’s no one else. But I can’t. You hold too much power over me. That’s exactly why I can’t”
“I don’t get it. You do all these things for me that no one ever has. Your actions say one thing and your words another. What am I supposed to do Jungkook?”
“Don’t like me. Stay far far away from me” he pulls his hands away from yours. “I’ll take you home”
“Jungkook-”
“I am taking you home” he says firmly, as he lifts you off the ground in his arms.
You hook your hands behind his neck. You let your head rest against the crook of his neck. You let him take you home because you’re too tired to fight. You don’t want to fight with him because you know that you love this man. If the night taught you anything, it was that.
“Y/n we’re going to be leaving” Mrs. Jeon hurriedly comes into the kitchen, opening up cabinets and grabbing food.
“Leaving?” your brows furrowed. “Where?”
“Jungkook’s dad and I have to go to the orphanage in the city for an event. We’ll be back by tonight. But Jungkook is home if you need anything” she packs up a bag full of food, probably for the journey since the drive to the city is 2 hours.
“Wait, you’re both leaving? Jungkook and I are going to be alone…?” your voice trails at the end, having been met with a dreadful realization.
Mrs. Jeon’s nose scrunches as she walks over to you. “Is everything okay?”
You’re too busy worrying so you don’t even hear her.
Mrs. Jeon calls out your name a couple of times before she physically has to shake you. “Y/n, what’s going on?”
You blink rapidly. “Oh nothing. Everything is fine. I just thought he would go with you too”
“We asked him, but he said you’d be alone at home so he’ll stay too”
“He said that?” your eyes widen. You don’t understand his concern.
She nods. “Mmhmm. He also said he will stay just in case you need something while everyone is gone. I would ask you to come too but I didn’t want you to feel bad”
You shake your head. “It’s alright. I’d cry the whole time anyway thinking of my parents” you chuckle. “But you know I can take care of myself”
Mrs. Jeon chuckles. “I know that. But tell Jungkook that because this boy was adamant on not wanting to leave you alone. I don’t understand him” she shakes her head, like any mother aggrieved of her child would. You can’t blame her though. He is a unique specimen.
“Yeah me neither” you purse your lips in a smile.
“Alright. We’ll be off then” she gives you a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “If he troubles you, call me right away”
“I will”
She makes haste of leaving, carrying the bag.
You spend a better part of the day hiding in your room, avoiding Jungkook. It’s the only place in the entire house where he won’t come. Not after everything that has happened between you. He’s honorable in that sense. Things have shifted between you once again. There’s no anger anymore. All of that has been replaced by awkwardness. Now if you see each other, you only nod at one another. Occasionally, you talk too. But it’s always surface level things. Nonetheless, it’s a step in the right direction.
At half past one though, your stomach starts to grumble and gradually all you can think about is food. It’s a relief in a way because it distracts you from him. You spend ten minutes trying to persuade your brain that you’re not actually hungry.
“I am not hungry” you chant it like a mantra hoping that at least for a while it will go away.
After agonizing and torturing yourself for half an hour, you give in.
“Fuck this” you grumble as your hunger gets the better of you. You drag yourself down to the kitchen. Unlike last time though you don’t tiptoe around the house.
You go into the kitchen, open the fridge to find two plates already filled with food. A note, no doubt from Mrs. Jeon is stuck into the cling film: don’t forget to eat.
You grab a plate for yourself, leaving the other one in the fridge for Jungkook. You’re about to shut the door, when you change your mind. This may serve as an excuse to talk to him. At the end of the day, you’re going to be living in the same house. So you figure you can’t go on avoiding him.
You grab the second plate, heat both of them in the microwave.
You head back upstairs, where the bedroom’s are. You turn left at the landing towards his room which is at the end of the hallway. You stop in front of the door, and seeing as your hands are full you settle for calling his name. “Jungkook, you in your room? I got food”
You wait, but there is no response.
“Jungkook” you call again.
No response. Finding yourself with no other choice left, you somehow manage to balance the plate on your forearm. With the free hand, you turn the handle.
You peek your head inside to find the room empty. Just as you’re about to leave your eyes catch something at his bedside table. You know you shouldn’t go inside, but you can’t help it. You leave one of the plate’s on his bedside table because you can’t lug three things around. You grab it, meaning to ask him about it when you find him.
You close the door, and head back downstairs. You walk the whole of the first floor from the dining room, living room, kitchen, family room calling out his name. But he’s nowhere.
“Maybe he’s in the basement” you think to yourself as you head downstairs. You walk down the steps.
It’s dark save for the blue LED lights running along the ceiling. You walk in further turning the corner from where the pool table, and the arcade game machines are. You remember that before Jungkook left he had set up one half of the basement as his gaming room.
Sure enough as you near the room you hear sounds of gunshots, and rifles and some mild cursing which makes you chuckle.
You don’t bother knocking as you enter. The same blue LED lights adorn the room. You can see his black mop of hair against the couch.
“Are you hungry?” you say tentatively as you stop next to the couch.
He immediately stops playing, throwing his remote on the ground as he turns to you. He takes off his headphones. You notice his hair is tied up in a bun, which manages to make your heart skip a few beats.
“Oh hey” he says, straightening up. “You didn’t have to” he notices the plate in your hand.
“Your mom said you haven’t been eating” you hold the plate for him and he reaches for it.
“Thanks” he offers a pursed lip smile. He takes the plate and sets it aside on the side table. A few beats of silence pass. He taps his fingers against one another, something you notice he does when he’s nervous. His eyes stay fixed on his hands.
“Will you make me a promise?” you look at his profile.
He clears his throat. “Depends on what it is”
You roll your eyes, fully expecting that response. “Just say you will”
Your persistent gaze makes him shift uncomfortably in his spot. He sighs, looking ahead at nothing in particular, while thinking over your request. He turns to you. “Fine”
“Promise me if I ask you questions, you will answer. It can be anything”
“That doesn’t sound very fair” his lips quiver at the corners, a hint of smile making an appearance. “What if I don’t want to answer”
“Too bad” you narrow your eyes at him. “You don’t have a choice. So?” you raise your brows giving him an expectant look.
He considers your demand, looking back at his hands again. “Well looks like I don’t have a choice”
“Good. Because I am asking right now”
At this, he looks at you wide eyed.
“Now?”
You nod. “Mmhmm. Tell me why you won’t act on your feelings”
He opens his mouth to speak but you cut him off. “Don’t deny it. If you didn’t feel anything for me you wouldn’t have lost your shit the day I hurt my ankle and you sure as shit wouldn’t have risked your life for me” you remind him. “And you wouldn’t have put this next to your bed” you bring forward the picture of you and him Mrs.Jeon’s friends had taken-- the one where you’re both looking at each other as he holds you by the waist.
He lets out an exasperated sigh. He rubs his hands on his face, resting his elbows on his knees as he keeps his face covered. He pulls his hands away , crossing them together. He looks at you, trying to determine how he should begin. “You’re right. I do have feelings for you. I’ve been here before y/n and…” he pauses, swallowing thickly.
“And what?” you prod, placing the photo frame next to you.
“She was beautiful. You should have seen her. She was amazing, just beyond I could express. Everyone here loved her. We used to spend every day together. Her parents hated me for it” he lets out a chuckle, a nostalgic look in his eyes.
“What happened?”
“She-- she died”
Your mouth hangs open. “I am so so sorry. I had no idea. I am sorry. Just.. forget I asked. I don’t need to know” you feel guilty immediately.
“No. It’s alright. I’ve already started. There was a fire in the woods years ago and she died in that. Some humans were having a bonfire and they left the fire burning. It caught on and somehow she got stuck in the middle of it with no escape” he looks down at his hands yet again.
You shift closer to him and wrap your arms around his shoulders resting your head on against the crook of his neck. “I am really sorry”
“Thank you” he places a hand on your forearm, leaning his cheek on your head.
“If I had known, I never would have pressed you. I feel like an asshole” you mumble.
“You’re not an asshole” he replies.
“I get it now and I promise you I won’t ever ask you to consider your feelings for me again” you lift your head and place a kiss on his cheek.
His lips curve up in a grin immediately and he is quick to place a kiss on your cheek too. “You’re amazing” his gaze locks with yours.
“I know” you grin. “Can I ask you something else too... ?” you say tentatively.
He nods. “Anything”
“Did you… did you imprint on her?” you ask, noting just how close you’re sitting to him. You can smell his breath, and feel it on your face as he beholds you in the most loving look in his eyes.
A coughing fit ensues for Jungkook, and you unwrap your arms from his shoulder, in favour of gently patting his back. “Sorry. Bad question hey?”
“No” he dismisses with his hand. “It’s just I’ve never been asked that”
“Forget I asked” you shake your head.
“No. I promised. Not her. Only my human side loved her. To imprint on someone all of me, including my wolf has to feel something. That’s the only way werewolves can imprint and it would be a far stronger bond than what I had with her” he sighs. “I have imprinted on someone. Not her” he finally answers your question.
“Oh my god” your heart sinks. “I- I have no idea what to say” you shift away from him, feeling like you’ve violated some rule. As if you have made him cheat on someone with you.
“Y/n” he says as soon as he sees your body language tensing. “It’s not what you’re thinking”
“No” you shake your head. “I am sorry. I am so sorry. I am so fucking stupid” you get up abruptly and march off while he calls out for you.
As is customary every third Friday of the month, the children from the neighbourhood gather around the campfire. This time Jungkook is there so he’ll have to answer all their questions.
Everyone sits around in a circle, some on the logs and others on chairs. Jungkook and you sit on opposite sides of the fire, Your eyes are fixed on the embers burning away. He holds a stick as he’s poking at the coal to keep the fire going. Your eyes meet momentarily as you both look up, but you look away first, busying yourself with watching the fire burn away the wood once more. You can still however feel his gaze resting on your face. But you’re too resigned at this moment to feel anything but emptiness.
“Is everyone ready?” Jimin comes along, absolutely chirpy and the complete opposite of how you look and feel. That’s when you sense Jungkook looks away. Jimin settles into the empty spot on the log next to you. He passes around drinks to the group. He offers you one too, but you decline. “Hey” he nudges you.
“Hmm” you turn your attention to him.
“What’s going on with you? Everyone’s been asking me what’s up”
“Nothing’s up” you shrug. “I am absolutely okay”
“If you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine. But at least don’t lie” Jimin purses his lips in a smile.
“Sorry Jiminie. I am just not feeling great. I’ll be okay I promise” you note with a half assed smile.
“So who wants to go first and ask Jungkook questions” Jimin turns to the group once he’s assured by you. The group is made up of mostly older kids in their late teens. But there are some younger children mixed in the group.
A chorus of ‘me, me ,me, me’ starts up.
“How about we go one by one” Jimin suggests and the sea of hands in the air disappears.
“How was the city?” someone from your side asks. But you couldn’t be bothered to know who.
“It was good.” he sighs, poking the fire logs once again. “But it was dull compared to this place” his eyes flicker to you momentarily.
You catch him, if only for a second and then look at your hands as you fiddle with them.
“Did you find a human mate? I am sure you met very pretty girls” one of the girls asks. The question you piques your interest.
You remember she was the one who excitedly told you Jungkook was back.
He doesn’t respond immediately which only makes you think that he did meet someone there. Why wouldn’t he? She’s probably the one he’s imprinted on. You would leave were it not for Jimin who holds your wrist with a shake of his head as soon as he sees you’re about to get up.
“I did meet girls.” Jungkook says, looking at the little girl. “But they are nothing compared to someone else I know” he shifts his gaze to you once more. “She’s beautiful, but she doesn’t see it that way” he looks right at you, like he’s speaking to you, and you only. Time seems to stand still momentarily because he acts like no one else is around. “It’s a shame because she really is the most beautiful girl I have ever met” he holds your gaze, rendering you unable to look away.
You hear aww’s and squeals from all around you which pulls you away from the trance and blinkingly you avert your gaze.
“Does she know you like her?” someone else asks, this time a boy.
He shakes his head. “I don’t know. I think she does. By the way, I thought this was about exchanging stories about our ancestry” he looks around at everyone.
“Yeah. We hear those every month. But this is much more exciting and romantic” one of the older girls probably in her late teens replies, and everyone agrees as they nod or offer a ‘yes’ in agreement. “Tell us more. What’s it like to imprint on someone?”
“Are you sure we should be talking about this? Aren’t they young?” Jungkook looks at Jimin.
“They won’t tell if you don’t. Right guys?” Jimin chuckles and everyone nods eagerly.
“Alright then” Jungkook continues.
At this point you really want to leave because you don’t want to hear about how she makes him happy, and how his whole life has changed because of her. But you stay because some part of you is still holding onto hope of you and him.
“It feels like gravity is shifting from underneath you. When you look at her, you can see everything clearly. It’s as if your past, present, and future come together all at once and everything makes sense. It’s as if you finally find the ‘why’ of your existence. You’ll be anything for her-- whatever she needs be that a protector, a friend, a lover. Anything… he trails.
“That’s so romantic” the girl squeals dreamily. “I want that too”
Jungkook laughs. “Any other burning questions?”
“When are you going to tell her?” another question comes which only furthers your resolve to leave. You get up, having had enough of it. The moment you stand, everyone turns to look at you. Without a word, you begin walking towards the house.
“Don’t you want to know who it is y/n?” Jungkook yells as you leave, his words halting you in your steps. You feel everyone’s eyes darting back and forth between you and him.
You look over your shoulder. ‘I already told you”
“I think you’ll want to know,” he replies. You hear the crunch of the grass beneath his feet as he walks towards you. He gently places a hand on your elbow to turn you around. “Just let me tell you”
You glance up at the man. “I won’t be a--able to hear it” your voice cracks.
“I did imprint on someone—“
“Jungkook” you say warningly.
“Just listen to me” his grip on your elbow tightens, his jaw tightening.
“Jungkook please” you beg just as your eyes begin to water. You avert your gaze to the side. “Please. I cannot do this” you shake your head.
“I love her” he continues anyway despite your protests. You know he’s looking at you. But you can’t. You can hear the pain in his voice which makes everything so much more worse because that means he could never love anyone the way he loved her. “ She makes everything make sense and-”
“Just stop” you yank your elbow away from his hand and walk away.
You sit at the edge of the pier which juts out to the side from the boardwalk. just as the sun begins to set behind the mountains. The night market bustles in the distance. Crowds and crowds of people and come and go. Yet you feel calm, just watching the waves ripple beneath your feet. You dip them in the cold water, shivers running through your body. You splash the water, trying to pass your time.
You would have gone to the woods but given everything that has happened in that forest, you’re not too fond of it at the moment. This time Jungkook won’t be there to protect you. He’s out with his friends somewhere. You didn’t bother to ask where, not that it is any of your business.
From the periphery of your vision you can see a group of guys jumping down on the wooden planks of the pier.
You feel disappointed because you won’t have the space to yourself anymore.
They’re laughing, and being boys in general which makes you roll your eyes.
They pass by behind you, being as loud as ever. You ignore their incessant and annoyingly loud voices as you focus on the sun which is still in the process of setting. You close your eyes, the wind blowing softly against your face, and through your hair.
“Y/n?”
You instantly whip around to come face to face with none other than the man who had made a home out of your thoughts.
“Jungkook? You’re here?” You question, using your hands to push yourself up.
“Careful” his hands come out as if to hold you in case you fall.
“It’s okay” you tuck strands of hair behind your ears. “I am fine”
“I was just with my friends” he turns behind, and points to them while they stand a respectful distance away. They wave at you and hesitantly you wave back. “Why are you here?”
“I needed to get out of the house. The woods aren’t exactly my favorite place right now. So I thought why not come here” you shrug.
He nods, sliding his fingers in his jean pockets, rocking back and forth on his toes. “So…”
“So…” you fold your arms across your chest out of sheer self-consciousness.
“Do you maybe want to-” he starts.
“Hey Jungkook” a random girl throws her arms around his shoulders from behind, chin resting on his shoulder.
You look between the two of them.
This must be her. She’s pretty
“I thought we were gonna go eat” she pouts at him questioningly.
He doesn’t look at her as he speaks. Instead he locks eyes with you. He stares at you— wordlessly, like he’s lost in you. “Yeah” his reply is intended for her.
“Well introduce me, won’t you?” she looks at him and then at you.
“This is…” he’s still looking at you and you only.
“I am Alix” she extends a hand, much too cheerfully.
“Y/n” you can only manage to press your lips to feign a smile.
“Ohhh” her mouth opens in realization and she looks at him, like she’s impressed.
This time he looks at her and nods.
“Well y/n, do you want to come to dinner with us?” she offers kindly. But to your ears it’s anything but.
“No. I am alright. But thank you” you look at her. “See you at home Jungkook”
“Just come” he says just as you’re about to turn around to leave.
“I have to do some stuff at home” you say listlessly. “I’ll see you tonight” you reply with a ghost of a smile.
Yet again you turn away from him, not even waiting for his response.
You walk all the way back home, thankful that the way back is quiet, and not many people are around. You take the road from the pier that merges into the street that leads to your house up the hill.
You kick your feet beneath you, sighing heavily every so often. A fluttery feeling intensifies in your stomach the closer you get to home. Your chest feels heavy, a dull ache coming on. Your breathing quickens pace, not so much from the effort of walking up the hill but the mental exhaustion that you’ve faced in the past few weeks.
Love fucking sucks.
Your thoughts are occupied by Jungkook and Jungkook only. Every thought begins and ends with him and soon enough your head is full of memories you spent with him-- good and bad. It’s like a movie playing in your head-- beginning with the first time you saw him after he came back, and just a few minutes ago to Alix and her perfectly pretty face. How could he not love her?
By the end of it, you’re positively bawling your eyes out. Tears upon tears cascade down your face, with no indication of stopping anytime soon. You wipe your nose with the back of your hand, sniffling. Your legs become heavy with the weight of carrying you up the hill. Your head hurts, and you’re sure you’ll faint if you don’t sit down soon.
You quietly continue to sob, head hung low as you reach the gate. You push it open. Your feet drag beneath you, a heavy tread leaving marks of soil from the walk up on the cemented pathway. You open the door to the house, only to hit your head on something.
“Ow” you mumble, rubbing the spot that’s starting to ache. It only makes you sob more. “What the hell...” you lament under your breath, beginning to cry with the force of someone writhing in pain on all fours. You fall on your knees, everything inside you giving up. You cry the way a child does-- hiccuping, heaving to catch your breath only to have it be drowned by another wave of painful sobs.
“Just stop” Jungkook’s voice cracks, as he falls to his knees in front of you too. “Stop doing this to yourself” he croaks.
“I don’t know how to” you strain.
“I can make it all go away y/n” his cheeks are stained with tears too. He gathers you in his arms just like he’s done before. He kisses the top of your head. “Just let me make it go away. Please”
You break the embrace to look up at him through tear soaked eye lashes. “You can’t” your voice quivers.
“If you just…” he stops to take a deep breath, arms loosely wrapped around your back. He’s defeated into silence by your cries.
“It hurts” you clutch the material of his shirt., tucking your chin into your neck “It hurts so so much”
“It’s you”
You don’t even hear him, as you hide your face behind your hands, your body shaking due to your forceful sobs.
“It’s you.” he says again. “Listen to me. For once. Please” he’s begging you at this point.
You uncover your face to look at him. “What?”
“It’s been you all along”
“Wh…” your mouth remains open as you gawk at him. You hastily wipe your face with your hands as if that will somehow help you make sense of it.
“It’s you” he says in a whisper. “It’s you” he looks into your eyes this time--really looks as he says it for the third time almost like he’s saying it as a mantra. “I love you”
As if on cue, you stop crying because his words sink in. You don’t just hear them, you understand them. You begin connecting the dots. “Holy shit” you look at him daze. “I never even gave you a chance to speak” you bemoan that fact.
A bittersweet chuckle softly crosses his lips. “You didn’t. If you had, you wouldn’t have tortured yourself like this. Couldn’t you see it?” he searches your eyes for an answer that will make sense to him.
“How could I have? You’re you and I am me-- clumsy and stupid. You acted like there was someone else this whole time” you rub your eyes to dry the tears away.
“You never gave me a chance to tell you. I tried so many times. That night in the woods when I said I feel what you feel, you misunderstood that as being part of my abilities as a werewolf. But that’s not true. I feel every emotion you feel and I feel it ten times more than you because I imprinted on you .Then I tried to tell you during our conversation in game room and you walked away”
“Then why didn’t you do anything? Why didn’t you just act on it? You should have stopped me”
“You know why” a slight frown adorns his forehead.
You gulp hard, realizing the depth of what you just said. An apology is just at the tip of your tongue. “I know I said I wouldn’t ask you to consider my feelings ever again. But Jungkook, I can’t. Being around you overwhelms me. All I want to do is be around you, have you in my sights and when you’re not I feel disappointed and sad. I miss you every single second of the day when you’re not there. ”
“I have seen the entirety of us y/n-- everything that was, is and all that is to come ”
“I’ve imagined a whole future with you too”
He doesn’t respond.
Your stomach feels tight, your chest feels like something is pressing on it as his silence continues. Your gaze doesn’t leave him for even a second. You feel like you’re naked, as if the whole of you is on display, vulnerable to the point where even a single look will be enough to make or break you.
“I am just asking you to love me” your soft voice doesn’t dampen the gravity of your words.
He scoffs. “That’s just it though. I don’t just love you. I am bound by you. I am bound to you for the rest of my existence. That’s far scarier than love”
“I don’t know how to reply to that. All I know is I am in love with you exactly the way you’re in love with me” you shift closer to him, locking your fingers in his. “Because I can’t deny you any more than you can deny me”
He looks down and plays with your fingers. “That’s true. But I haven’t stopped thinking about the night you got attacked. What would have happened if I wasn’t there? What would I have done with myself if something happened to you?” his words reflecting the guilt he’s been feeling.
“Quit blaming yourself” you chide him. “Anything can happen to me, or to you at any given time. So stop worrying about that and keep your promise of protecting me. It’s not like you can switch this off”
“Not any more than I can stop breathing” he replies.
“Then love me. It’s simple. Jungkook, we either do this, or we don’t” it’s not that you are giving him an ultimatum, but it’s a fact.
“You know as much as I do, that even if in some ridiculous world I wanted to say no, I couldn’t. So you don’t have to worry about me not loving you. Because that just isn’t possible. Not only because I chose you but because that’s just how it is”
“Then what are we doing here?”
“I already told you I love you. You know that I do”
“And that’s supposed to be it?” you raise your brows at him.
His lip quivers into a lopsided smile, the solemn mood beginning to shift. “Tell me what you want”
“Just kiss--”
His lips on yours quiet down your thoughts to nothing. Shivers cascade down your body in waves. He invades each of your senses. The fluttering in your stomach grows intense. His lips feel soft against your own.
Jungkook keeps his eyes slightly open, taking a guilty peek at your face. He still couldn’t imagine if this was a figment of his imagination, or if the universe had gifted him this moment just at the right time. But he felt thankful for it beyond words could express. Every breath he took smelled like you— like water lilies.
“I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time.” he breathes heavily. He doesn’t even give you the chance to speak because he’s pressing his lips to yours once again— softly and gently. His hands run the sides of your body, the material of your shirt gathering together, exposing your skin.
He guides you up without breaking the kiss, pulling you in to erase every inch of space between your bodies. You can feel every contour of his body against your own. You hold him tight, trying to take in the feeling.
His hands slide under your thighs as he picks you up, you wrap your legs around his hips, as he takes you inside the house. He carries you as if you don’t weigh anything— through the house and up the stairs to his room.
“What” kiss. “About” kiss. “Your parents?”
“Not” kiss “here” he mumbles between a kiss.
He kicks the door open and carries you in until your back hits a wall. He gently lets you down, till the tips of your toes are touching the floor. He breaks the kiss. “You know I won’t do anything you don’t want right?” his gaze, fixated on your eyes.
You nod, running your tongue over your lips and tasting him.”How could I not want this” you pull him by the nape of his neck, unable to bear even one second of distance. He happily obliges, melting into the kiss with a content sigh. It kind of feels like you’re drunk because there is a slight buzz and your mind feels hazy. You’re thoughtless at the moment, and your entire body is burning. Kissing him, touching him-- is all the intoxication you need to feel out of control. Neither your mind, nor your body is acting under your direction anymore
Your whole being is responding only to Jungkook. Every kiss, every soft touch, every caress, every stroke elicits a reaction from you.
“Tell me what you want, baby” he asks, leaving a trail of kisses down your neck and to your chest. “Tell me exactly what you want” his mouth parts against the skin of your neck as he bites down gently.
You can’t help the moan that passes your lips and fades into the air. “You”
He inhales sharply at your words as if that is enough to turn him on. He lifts his head up to look at you “You wanted me to love you right?” he pushes your thighs out by burying his leg between yours. He pushes his thigh against you exactly where you’re aching for him.
“Oh my god….” your voice fails you.
“I’ve thought of you so many nights, for so long” he pushes in more and you grind your hips against his thigh.
“I want more” you can’t help but mumble. “Please”
A corner of his lip raises in a smirk. “Your wish is my command” . He swipes his thumb against your clothed clit. “Is this what you want baby?”
You nod, a whimper crossing your lips as the sound of your heavy breaths fills the air.
You continue to rock your hips against his thigh, while he continues to rub circles on your clit. “Does that feel good?” he asks, but before you can even respond he’s shoving his tongue down your mouth through your parted lips.
You moan into him. eyes shutting tight at the fluttery sensation between your legs. You clutch the fabric of his shirt, unable to hold yourself up longer as you clench around nothing in particular. You feel the adrenaline in every part of your body-- in the pounding of your heart, in your breathless noises, in the way your body grows warmer by the second.
You open your eyes to look at him, cupping his face in your hands. But he’s already looking at you. His pupils are dilated, irises beginning to change colour from his chocolate brown to blue while he continues to kiss you. His hand stops moving against your clit, and he removes his thigh from between your legs. At the loss of friction you feel like a starved animal, needing more, and more, and more. You didn’t think you could ever feel this way, but he was making you abandon all of your inhibitions and want whatever he could give you. You didn’t know if you would ever feel satisfied after what you started.
But Jungkook knows exactly how to pleasure you and then some more as he picks you up and leads you to his bed where he lays you down. He hovers over you, palms pressed into the mattress on either side of you. He gulps.”Are you sure?”
You only nod.
He shifts down, unbuttoning your jeans, and sliding them out from under your legs. He throws them on the floor. He parts your legs, resting his upper body between your legs. He doesn’t waste any time, as he licks a strip on your clothed clit.
“O-oh- oh my….” your fingers curl around his hair, and you push his mouth flush against your core.
He moans against your flesh, laying kitten licks against the sensitive skin. The friction tenses the knot in your stomach even more. Just when you think there’s nothing more he could do, you feel your insides being stretched as he pushes a finger into you. Your back arches at the sensation. He buries his finger knuckle deep,curling it and inside you and hitting that sweet spot. Broken moans and gasps cross your mouth, while your toes curl from all the pleasure.
Seconds tick by and turn into minutes which turns into hours and just like that the night flies by. You don’t know how many times you come undone under him, above him. You stopped counting after the second time because you weren’t even in a state where you could think about thinking anything.
You lay under the sheets facing each other--limbs entangled and noses almost touching. Every few seconds the tip of his nose touches yours as he moves in to kiss you, but then he stops.
“Stop being a tease” you pout at him.
He laughs, showing his pearly whites. His eyes crinkle at the corners just like they do when he’s happy. He leans in, to place a peck on your lips. Then he shifts his head up to kiss your forehead. Then gently, he places a tender kiss at the tip of your nose. He pulls your hand into his as he brings it to his lips, laying down gentle kisses on each knuckle.
“Who taught you how to be romantic?” you tease
“I’ve always been romantic” his gaze locks with yours, a gentle smile coming onto his lips.
“By the way what did you talk to Jimin about that day?” a sudden curiosity shifts the subject.
A look of realization crosses his face “Ah” he says. “I told him about you”
“So that’s why you were pissed” you chuckle.
“Pissed?” his brows crinkle together.
“You were jealous of course. You looked like you were going to kill him” a corner of your mouth lifts into a smirk.
“No. I wasn’t. That’s childish stuff. I just thought he should know that at that time you were kind of taken. Not really but you know…”
You tap his nose. “If you say so” You trace the outline of his face with your fingers. “Are you happy?” you whisper.
“More than I can tell you. Are you?” he licks his lips as his eyes flicker to yours.
“Mhmm” you nod. “Happiest I have ever been I think”
“Good” he kisses the back of your hand. “That’s all I want for you baby”
“I can’t believe you’re mine” you look into his eyes-- finding yourself falling in love all at once.
“You better believe it” his lips turn up at the corners into a grin. “I don’t know how much humans mean it when they say ‘forever’. But let me tell you us werewolves tend to take the stuff pretty seriously.”
You chuckle silently, huffing through your nose. “Your point being?”
“You better believe I am yours, because you’re forever y/n. Until my last breath”

From a past life [Yandere vampire! Romania x reader]
Synopsis: For centuries, he waited for your return--your rebirth. So when he finally learns of your whereabouts just outside of Wallachia, he rushes to meet you in hopes of becoming what you both used to be. But he runs into a predicament when he learns you're in a relationship with a man, a pesky human mortal by the name of Daniel. He'll do anything to get rid of him, even if he has to play dirty. He made a promise to you that he would find you for the rest of your lifetimes, so God forbid that he breaks it. Wordcount: 3, 813 The reader is referred to as she/her.
A trip to Romania had always been on your bucket list. Your boyfriend was just as excited to go, but he wouldn’t have been if it turned out to be the last trip you'd ever go on with him.
Today was when you would visit the highlight of your itinerary. On the Transylvania side of the border with Wallachia, and nestled in miles of rolling hills, was Bran castle. The awe-inspiring fortress told one of the most famous tales of old as Count Dracula's abode. Or at least, it was rumored to be as it fit the description of it.
Needless to say, you were dragging him around the estate to admire anything and everything that piqued your interest or served as a potential photo spot. “Oh, hurry up, Daniel! This is where he slept!” Scrambling closer to the grand bed, which was certainly framed with more wood than needed, you leaned in behind the red rope that fenced off the artifact. Then, you flashed him a wide grin.
He returned the gesture with a tender smile of his own. “I'm as old as this castle, kicsim. Let me take things in slowly.”
“You're only three years older than me. I don't think you have the right to call me little or yourself old.” Flattening your lips at that, your frown melted away as quickly as it appeared.
“But look! Dracula's sheets and mattress. Though it would make more sense to say it was Vlad's... The guy he was based on. Hmm, but that wouldn't make sense either.”
The man rubbed the nape of his neck with a soft laugh. It was no doubt he shared your enthusiasm, but your unapologetic passion always made him fall harder than he already had. “Yep. I believe he was imprisoned here. I don't think he'd be getting the master bedroom.” He appeared from behind and rested himself on your head as you placed a pistol grip on your chin.
“Even then, I can't imagine him sleeping so soundly after sticking so many sticks up people's--” Two strong arms squeezed around your waist to make you gasp.
“Ah-!”
“Okay! What do you say we go down to the gardens for a walk, hm?”
And that was exactly what the two of you did. Skipping out in front of him, you held onto his hands and swung his arms. “I'm gonna go down to the pond, okay? You can enjoy this place nice and slowly like the old person you are.”
This was the greenest garden you ever had the pleasure to stroll through, even the tea house blended in with its moss-covered roof. It only emphasized how ancient this castle really was, and something about it delighted you in ways you couldn't articulate.
“Alright, kicsim. I'll see what nice flowers I'll add to my hair.” Daniel scooped the pink blossom from his hazel brown bangs and placed it behind your ear. “When I do, I'll come get you. Don't let any vampires find you before I do.” Shooting you a wink at that, you pecked him on the nose before running off.
Who would have thought those words would ring truer than he intended? Several miles away, slept a man who was as old as Bran castle. His name too was Vlad, though he never earned such a fearsome reputation by impaling his enemies. Instead, he kept a low profile and dedicated his long, neverending life to finding someone.
Every restless night, she was what he dreamed of since her passing.
When I go, promise me you'll find me again.
Promise me.
Fluttering his eyes awake, they glowed a blood-red in the darkness of his bedroom. They drooped with a tiredness that never seemed to go away no matter how much he rested.
Sliding off the mattress, he folded the flaps of his robes tightly around his body before making his way into the halls. Every corner of this humble countryside cottage he called his home was enshrouded with shadows, and not to mention the thick coating of dust caking the top of every shelf, couch, and tabletop.
He hadn't cleaned this house for centuries. His will to try withered away through the years in his lonesome, but he was patient. Peeking through the gap between the curtains of his overgrown hair, his irises shrunk as the blinding daylight poured into them through the drapes of his living room window. He could feel it in his dead still heart.
Something had changed.
Out there in the world scorched by the sun, was something even warmer. And it was so familiar, so tender, he could not mistake it for anything else, or anybody else for that matter.
She was nearby, and the thought filled him to the brim with a joy so potent, tears of relief welled in his wide eyes. He had waited hundreds of years for this moment. For her return. Her rebirth that would usher in his own.
The prospect was so invigorating, he felt as if his heart began to beat again. He never felt so alive. Scurrying back to his bedroom, he sat in front of his vanity to access his appearance. He had to look presentable before meeting her, hadn't he? A bedhead like this and nightwear would simply not do.
Especially when he hadn't cut his hair for at least twenty years.
Giving his long locks of strawberry-blonde a thorough comb, he let it fall straight down to his lower back. With a few quick snips, he shortened his bangs by a few inches to give the impression he had some sort of control over an otherwise uncontrollable mane of hair.
As he shed himself of his robes in exchange for day clothes, a white dress shirt paired with dark plaid pants, one singular thought repeated in his head like a broken record. As morbid as it sounded, it was more of a Godsend than anything.
Death was never the end. Not for her, and not for him. Or rather, a new beginning.
But it didn't start the way he imagined. Following her sweet scent to the gardens of the famed Bran castle, he found the smell growing more and more pungent, albeit confused. It was mixed with another's, tainted by the stench of a human male. His irises thinned to slits, and he tensed up all over. How could this be?
Hiding behind a tree, he peered over the side to confirm his suspicion.
There she was, her beauty as pristine and untouched as the last time he loved her. For just one second, he was over the moon. But his euphoria was short-lived when he saw that she was with a man. Kissing him, even. Even though it was just on the nose, any further down her face would have caused him to start an apocalypse.
That insignificant, trifling, and scheming little creature. He was about to reap what he sowed. How dare he take his place? It was him she was meant to with, not that pesky mortal!
Whipping his head to the front, his eyes went round with disbelief and his breathing grew ragged. An unfathomable ache spread in his chest as he dug his nails into the bark. How could he have let this happen? It took every shred of his willpower to keep the waterworks at bay.
His throbbing heart was also weighed down with a pang of heavy guilt. To allow another soul to be this close to her was a grave disservice to the promise he made. But that didn't mean he couldn't undo this.
In just a few seconds, he formulated an intricate plan to carry out well-deserved revenge. To have her in his arms again, and him, out of the picture where he belonged. In the blink of an eye, he appeared behind the man and tapped him on the shoulder. When he spun around, he grabbed him by the neck and caught him in a trance with his hypnotizing, inhuman gaze.
“You will give these flowers to the nearest young woman you see. Put them in her hair and kiss her on the lips.” Opening his own palm, he materialized three peonies before placing them in the other's.
Unable to escape the powerful snare cast by a vampire such as himself, Daniel did so as told. “I will give these flowers to the nearest young woman I see. I will put them in her hair and kiss her on the lips.” He reiterated monotonously with his eyes glazed over.
Watching the helpless man saunter off, he smirked devilishly as he exchanged glances with his long-lost lover. This would hurt her a great deal, but she would only be devastated if he never did it.
You had been watching the pond, completely ignorant to the scene that was about to unfold. Little did you know, it was purposely orchestrated. Using a stick to prod at your reflection, you lingered on the ripples distorting it before glancing up. In the distance was none other than your boyfriend, and judging from the pink in his hands, he found his flowers.
So you stood up. You would have snuck up on him as a surprise, but your feet remained firmly planted on the ground when you witnessed him give it away, then flirt with another woman. It couldn't be mistaken for anything else. He was kissing her!
Frankly, you couldn't believe it. One year was all it took for him to lose interest? Blood flushed your face as bile rose in your throat. How could he? And during a vacation at that, too! Tears threatened to spill out of your eyes, but you blinked them away when you heard the light treading of feet nearby.
This had to be a misunderstanding. Right?
Spinning to the source, you found yourself staring at the most peculiar man you had ever seen. He carried a delicate parasol to shade him from the sunlight. Combined with his pasty white skin, it was almost as if he was one of the very mythological creatures the country was renowned for.
He smiled gently, almost understandingly.
“Are you alright, domnișoară? I have a spare handkerchief if you'd like.” His alluring voice was as bewitching as a siren, but his mere presence brought you unspeakable comfort. And yet, he was nothing but a stranger, an odd one at that, so you were at a loss to realize that all it took for you to gravitate towards him was for your eyes to meet.
“I'm okay, thank you. But I couldn't possibly accept something like that. I mean, I don't know you...” Waving your hands at the man apologetically, you took the opportunity to scan him up and down.
As if he walked right out of a fairytale, he oozed prince-like charm. His clothes were traditional and refined, but that long, silky hair of his was certainly a rare sight--rare but breathtakingly beautiful. It gave his character untold notions of grandeur, mystery, and an inexplicable impression he was ancient.
But that couldn't be, not when he didn't look a day over twenty.
“What do you mean, you won't take it? It's yours.” He pulled out a small piece of fabric from his sleeve. Placing the finely embroidered cloth into your palm, he never gave you the chance to object. “It would be rude to regift something, so you'll have to keep it forever.” Mischief curled at his lips, and you couldn't help but laugh a little.
“Alright, alright, you got me there.”
You dabbed away the moisture before breathing out a sigh.
“I'm sure you're a very nice person, but I can't bother you more than I already have. Thank you, again, Mr. Vampire.” If it weren't for how heartbroken you were, you would have been mortified. Being pitied by a Romanian local was never part of your plan.
Just when you were betrayed by Daniel, he appeared like a knight in shining armor. If only you could forget what happened between you and your boyfriend. Otherwise, you would be bragging about meeting a vampire in Romania for as long as you could talk.
“Mr. Vampire?” He lifted his head before revealing a pair of sharp fangs in a grin. Now that caught you off guard. “You don't see me calling you miss human--and I have a name, thank you very much.” As he placed his gloved hand on his chest to playfully feign offense, he bit back another smile at the sound of your amused giggling.
Despite what happened a few minutes ago, talking to this actor was making you feel better already.
“And let me guess, is it Alucard?” You shook your head. “Or is it Vlad? You can't possibly call yourself Dracula looking like that.”
He blinked incredulously, then curved an arm over his face as if to cover himself with his non-existent cloak. “How did you know?”
“That your name is Alucard?”
“No, Vlad.”
“Okay, close enough. It was nice meeting you, Vlad, but I have a stupid boyfriend to scream at.” At the mention of that, you looked like you were on the verge of tears again. “All I'm hoping is that he's still my boyfriend after this. If only he were as much of a gentleman as you.”
He reflected your distress in a frown, and you would have been surprised by how much this apparently bothered him. But you already walked off. So he offered one last niceity before you strayed too far. “Good luck with your boyfriend.”
“No promises.”
He let those two words affect him more than he intended. Needless to say, he moved on quickly to watch you run to the unsuspecting brunette. Soon, his anguish was staved off by the sight of you shoving him back a few steps.
What looked like a one-sided argument broke out, and all the poor, confused man could do was just that--be confused. Shortly after, you stormed off, and he jogged behind, desperately calling your name.
A sinister smile cracked at Vlad's lips, and his irises glowed red. That little thing had no idea what was yet to happen to him.
That night, Daniel took you to the Brașov city hall for dinner. The beautiful buildings surrounding a fountain were as traditional as they were clean. Too bad your zeal was burned away by your anger. In the few hours in the hotel before, he barely managed to soothe it by explaining himself. A given, considering his explanation made no sense whatsoever.
He couldn't remember flirting with a woman.
“I think we could share a pizza. Are you okay with that?” Lifting his gaze to meet yours, you only turned away to stare out the window into the endless night. Your spaciness was deserved on his part, but little did he know, it only had so much to do with his wrongdoings.
The eccentric local never left your mind. After all, he gave you something to smile about with his whimsical kindness.
Vlad must have been an entertainer, a virtuoso at that, but his actions never came off as ingenuine. To be frank, you were drawn to his sincerity, and even looking for him subconsciously, wishing that he could magically appear because you willed it.
If only Daniel could be just as sincere.
“I must be okay with a lot of things.” His face fell. The same sorrow from when he was at the hotel room returned, but you couldn't care to give it any attention. “Like you pretending you didn't kiss someone right in front of me because you don't remember. I'm not stupid. Who else would have long hair tied back and flowers in their fringe?”
Daniel knitted his brows so tightly together, creases formed between them. “... I know it sounds like I'm lying, but I swear to you I didn't do it. You know me, (F/N).” At this point, he hadn't the foggiest what to say to appease you because he simply didn't do it. “I promise. All I'm asking is for you to trust me.”
“You promise?” You fumed.
There was only one thing you hated more than a liar.
“I trusted you, Daniel, I really did. But how could you ask me to trust you after I talked to that girl? She remembered it, so why can't you? Did you think I was that crazily into you I could let anything slide?” The biting truth silenced him, but it was the sound of you choking back tears that broke his heart.
“I'm gonna go to the bathroom to think this over.”
He had no way to argue with you, let alone the heart to when it was just broken and crushed to a thin slab of flesh. What if he really did kiss someone, and miraculously forgot?
“When I come back, I better not see you kissing anybody again.”
Standing up at that, he watched you leave with a defeated expression. Then, he folded his arms across the table and buried his face into it. There was no way he could fail that, could he?
What were the odds of kissing someone again when he had absolutely no intention to? The chances were dwindling at zero as he kept his head down. Unless supernatural forces were at work, nothing could get him to budge from sitting at this table.
But even he couldn't count on the world of the mundane to save him.
Sitting a few tables away was the exact opposite of mundane. When the front door slammed shut, he stood up and walked to the customer with their head down. While all the men in the establishment wore their hair short, his was long and flowing like time itself. There was something other-worldly about him. Something ghostly in the way he walked.
With every step he took, his feet never seemed to touch the ground as if he was floating. And his pale complexion was just as macabre as how he carried himself.
Not a minute passed, and Daniel found himself standing outside by the fountain. With absolutely no recollection, he somehow left the restaurant and wound up here in the festive courtyard. As shock paralyzed him from head to toe, the only thought that occurred to him was this. What in the hell was going on?
Rather than sitting head down in the warm restaurant, he was out here, chilled by the biting European cold. Couldn't he have at least remembered the transition?
In front of him was the same woman he supposedly flirted with in the gardens. And judging from the blush on her cheeks, he just threw away all his chances at making up with you.
“Listen, I... I don't know you. Forget me. Forget this ever happened.” Daniel trembled, feeling a chill run down his spine as he staggered back a few steps. It was like a nightmare he couldn't wake up from. There was just no sound explanation for this when this situation wasn't sound at all. Whatever it was, this was clearly a case of sabotage.
And like hell he was giving in to whoever that masterminded it.
He ran back inside with a fearful kind of urgency. Rushing back to the table he unwillingly abandoned, he froze when he saw you marching towards him down the aisle with murder on your mind. But death was too lenient a punishment. It would grant him a clean slate, a new beginning from a past life of unfaithfulness.
So he was splashed with a glass of red wine instead.
As the crimson liquid soaked his hair, it spread over his shirt like blood. After you saw what he did, the last shred of hope you didn't know you had died, squelched out there on his clothes for the world to see. A chorus of gasps was heard from every corner of the restaurant. Unbeknownst to the patrons who murmured amongst themselves, it wasn't just any lover's quarrel they were watching.
Daniel's breath hitched as he struggled to process his mortification. Behind you stood the very gentleman that tapped him awake, but he never made the connection between him and his misfortunes.
And perhaps, it was better that way.
After leaving your boyfriend for good, Vlad offered to walk with you around the city. Once again, he had swooped in to save you, only this time around, he was staying.
“So... What are you gonna do now?” He asked, casting a tender gaze your way. Before you could wrap your arms around yourself, he beat you to it and flung his cloak around your body. When you gawked at him, he only grinned toothily with his fangs.
Your cheeks reddened and you turned away. Why he was still in his vampire getup was beyond you. But seeing his enthusiasm only reminded you that you lost yours. “... Book another hotel room. Spend the rest of this holiday crying. Maybe never think of this country ever again.”
“And I'm not letting you do any of those things.” He hummed, giving you a gentle squeeze. “Why do you think I'm walking with you right now, hm? I'm gonna take you around to the best spots in Transylvania. The most haunted ones, I mean. So you can forget about going back to the hotel.”
You sighed but managed a small smile. “That's great and all, but I'm not made of money. And my stuff is all there.”
He squinted. “... Oh yeah. But after we get your stuff, we can go elsewhere, can't we?”
A few laughs fell from your lips. His generosity really knew no bounds. “Your house, then? You do realize I only met you today, right?”
Vlad closed his eyes. He could beg to differ.
“But you're still walking with me alone. In the dark.”
“Only because you saw me cry twice today. I wouldn't be mad if you killed me so I don't have to be so embarrassed.” He frowned at the sound of that, so you added this. “I was just kidding. Something about you just makes me feel... Strangely comfortable. Like I've met you before. Isn't that weird?”
“... Not really.” Reaching the top of a hill, he stared at an old castle in the distance, sitting high up in the mountains. “There's a legend about this city. Hundreds of years ago, a vampire and a human woman fell in love. She died, of course. But people say he's still around, waiting for her to reincarnate so they can be together again.”
The way he spoke was so sad, it was almost as if he was that very vampire himself. But what did that have to do with you?
“... Okay. Then do you think he'll ever find her?”
Vlad turned to you with an unreadable expression, but there was an untold fondness in how he looked at you.
“He already has.”

The first time you had noticed any kind of power, you were maybe 5 years old. It wasn't too obvious at first, things that could be passed off as mere coincidence Leaves seemingly following you, flowers turning to face you.
But you couldn't ignore the big signs, the bigger things. Vines growing around you, the flowers you picked immediately sprouting a few more in their place.
It scared you, but over time you got used to it. It gave you something to do on the hot summer days and cold winter nights. Spring gave you the most power and let them flourish, literally and metaphorically.
It had been some years ago when you met a young man who went by the name Jack Manifold. It was a nice day and you decided to cross the river that surrounded your home when you came upon a field of flowers after walking for a few minutes.
There were so many that you could feel their energy fill your veins. But there was something else. Someone. An energy that matched your own, too powerful to be a plant or a part of the Earth. Then he appeared, seemingly from nowhere. A tree a few yards away suddenly a boy.
From there had blossomed, no pun intended a friendship and relationship that held so much power. You two had grown and helped each other through work through the cons of your powers. Learned how to control them before they controlled you.
So one day when you received a message from an old friend regarding a certain evil that had taken over his friends and one of his homes, you couldn't ignore his call.
You and Jack showed up a few days later, and after a brief meeting with Foolish, you considered your options as you and Jack walked to the Egg's resting place.
"Maybe we could find if its core, and if we're lucky it'll be plant-based. Or Foolish did say that there are lots of vines and other plants surrounding it. We can just bury it so deep it won't be a problem ever again."
"No, Foolish wants it gone, and I think we should exhaust all of our options, whether we destroy the Egg or not."
As you two made your way to the Egg, people began to stop and consider the new visitors. Some looked tired, others just seemed angry or upset.
Then you two found it. The entrance to its resting place. Its red color illuminating what otherwise would have been a darkroom underneath the SMP. Vines and some other plants that you weren't sure you had ever seen.
"Oh my god." You looked at Jack, his eyes glowing against the room's tainted glow.
"What is it?"
"This is worse than what I would have expected, Y/N. These plants...I've only seen them once before in a very bad place. But it could work to our advantage."
You both made your way down the stairs, the sight of the Egg pushing beyond what you could have ever imagined. It stood tall, and the pure energy and heat that it gave off were almost enough to make anyone tired.
You began to feel a sense of panic rising in you, your hands slightly shaking at the sight of the object.
You felt the energy rushing out, towards the palm of your hands as a small flutter of energy found its way to the ground. As soon as the small seeds touched the ground, they grew into enormous green and white flowers.
A terrible scream suddenly emitted from the room, one that neither of you could hardly understand.
"Y/N, do that again."
"W-What?"
"The flowers, help them grow, just like those."
You focused on the type of flower, seeing it in your mind, then three more sprouted out of the original one.
Another scream filled the room.
"Alright, I have a plan. I'm not sure it will work but I do know it's worth a chance."
You couldn't look away from the Egg. It was like a monster staring you down, one that you were seconds away from fighting.
Jack turned to you, grabbing your face gently, rubbing his thumb against your cheek.
"Hey," he whispered, "It's alright. We are gonna take care of this in no time and help so many people. And we're gonna come out of it together. Okay?"
You nodded, grabbing his hands with your own, leaning into his energy.
"Alright, the plan is simple. I am going to try and manipulate these plants and grow the ones you just did. The Egg, it doesn't like the sight or the addition of plants that aren't connected to it. So while I'm carrying that out you need to start making something to protect us. I don't care what it is, how big it is, as long as it's strong enough to get us through a really bad thing. Can you do that for me?"
"I can do that."
You both smiled until Jack spoke. "Then let's do this."
Jack picked one of the flowers and one of the crimson plants that encased the room. He placed them gently together in front of the Egg and began to focus on transforming them into whatever he could.
You on the other hand began to pull together whatever plant matter you could find. Some pieces of wood and plants you had never even seen in your life still seemed to bend your will with just a little resistance. A small burrow was slowly being formed around you. When you looked up you could already see Jack had formed a large hybrid of the red and white plant which was now surrounding the Egg in a spiral.
The screams returned, nearly knocking Jack off his feet. He was a mess, the focus combined with the pure power that he needed to do what he needed was taking its toll slowly but surely.
Eventually, the Egg's screams, while still loud, became weaker, and a sudden rumbling came from the ground around you both.
"Jack! Jack get in here!" You screamed from your makeshift plant and wood bunker.
"Just a minute!" He continued his work, the vines and leaves already infiltrating the Egg's core.
You looked up, the ceiling above you caving in slowly. Right above Jack.
All he felt was the large vine wrap around his waist, then a harsh pull as he fell next to you within the bunker, moments away from the boulder that nearly crushed him.
"Keep going! It's not over yet."
You turned your attention away from the bunker and began to help Jack. The screams had to be the worst part. Your ears were basically going numb. You weren't even sure if Jack could hear your encouragements or if you were even talking.
All you know is that both of you were trying, the shaking of the ground was strong, and a sudden bright light was exploding from the Egg.
Then silence.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were the first to wake up. The ringing was still in your ears, but less powerful and daunting. Jack was situated against you, sleeping peacefully.
You leaned back against your arms and tried to shake him awake. Eventually, he stirred up, and you were able to clear away your shared 'bunker'.
After you made your way back up you saw the change immediately. The skies seemed happier. People were less scared to move about town.
You and Jack walked around, people greeting you as you did. You spotted Foolish atop a hill.
When you finally met him up there he smiled.
"Y/N, thank you so much. It happened. Whatever you two did...it worked." The tears filled his eyes as he engulfed both you and Jack in a hug.
"I don't know what you did, but no one here even seems to know what happened. It's like they went to bed and woke up new people. A fresh start."
You laughed. "That's great Foolish. I'm happy we could help. It was all Jack in the end."
You both turned to each other, the light in both of your eyes new.
Meadow (George Weasley x Reader)
Prompt: Hi, maybe fred or george (you can choose) and the reader are spending the afternoon in a flower meadow together? (sorry for my english, it's not my first language)🙈😊
Notes: okay I'm sure spring break isn't a thing at hogwarts but for this write, it is . hope you enjoy !!
Warnings: none, just a lot of fluff cause everyone loves george
Word Count: 3.5k
Spring break was winding down to a close as early April broke through. New life was brought to fruition as the snow from the harsh winter evaporated into the ground. Outside the grounds of the Weasley’s home were fields and fields of open land. Flowers sprouted in every step creating a kaleidoscope of colors. Those tumbling plains seemed to extend for miles beyond the horizon. Just beyond those grassy hills and slopes was a large, secluded meadow.
It was the early hours of a Saturday morning when a pair invaded the area far before the sun began to rise. The meadow Y/n and George had been occupying seemed to be the perfect location to view the birth of the new season. The perfect spot to enjoy each other’s company. Soon they would be ushered back to Kings Cross and board the Hogwarts Express- George for his last time and Y/n, well it certainly wouldn’t be her last time, no matter how hard she dreamed it was. The topic of George leaving Hogwarts was one the couple tip-toed around. Break was only two weeks but that meant two extra weeks for the pair to be together. With the school year tumbling to an end, George would be leaving school soon with his brother to start his dream and Y/n would be stuck needing to finish her last year at Hogwarts alone. The girl was a year below her boyfriend and although it never caused any friction for the pair, the gap was finally giving them issues.
In George’s mind, arriving to his last school year was both an accomplishment, and a burden. As excited as he was to finally leave those stone walls that held him back, the last thing he wanted was to leave her behind. It didn’t make any of the pain easier knowing that he’d be leaving alongside Fred earlier than the rest of their classmates. Y/n had been the only other living soul Fred and George had filled in on their grand exit plan. They needed someone to keep guard and be a lookout so who better than the one person they trusted not to run their mouth.
There was a heavy smell of earth in the air, mixed with the faint odor of new growth. The vivid green leaves and the cheerful colors of the blossoms are a feast. Flowers popped up from the soiled ground and the fruit hanging from the trees were starting to come to life.
The couple had spent a good portion of their break at the secluded meadow. In a way, it became their little secret spot. Not that it was a secret location by any means. Fred and George had discovered the meadow a few years back when they had ventured miles away from the burrow. The boys were always adventurous, especially when Molly and Arthur finally allowed them free range outside the family home when they were eleven. There were miles and miles of tall grass and woodland that made it easy to get lost. Of course with Fred and George, losing their way was never a worry. When the boys stumbled upon the breathtaking meadow, George seemed to be the only one interested in their find. Fred had wandered off into the section of forest they entered through, his attention captured by a group of baby deer camouflage in the woods. For years George would wander back to the meadow on his own when he needed a break from the loudness of his siblings or grew tired of Ron trailing on his coattails every turn. He promised himself he would keep the spot to himself, let it be his own private sanctuary. This plan ran smooth for a few years before George made the exception to break the rule for one person only.
But for now, the two could only take advantage of the time they had together and they didn’t intend to spend a second apart. It looked as if Y/n and George had stepped straight into a storybook. The grass was Eden-green and thigh-high to a thrush. A neon-blue ribbon of river ran through the ground in a squiggle line. A party of bright yellow ducklings scattered in the calm water, small quacks filling the air. Chirping and sweet songs from the birds made that feeling of Spring become a reality. Buzzing bumble bees and wildflowers sprung along the land. The sounds of nature engulfed the girl whole as she melted into the soft grass.
“I could stay here for the rest of my life- away from people, away from the world. It’s peaceful.” Y/n hummed softly. Her large doe eyes observed the clouds that formed a perfect line-up in the baby blue sky, as if they were boats safely moored in celestial harbour. Peeks of sunlight seeped in through the cracks in the fluffy clouds casting a shimmering light as they danced slowly by in the sky. Just a moment before she was listing off all the animals and objects she saw in the sky. Now she was considering the thought of staring at them forever.
George stole a quick glance down where she laid in his lap. Strands of her h/c hair flowing across his legs and hands. It tickled against his skin as a light breeze swept past. Her abrupt words had caught him off guard. He had missed the sound of her voice for the last hour, although adored the trance-like state of happiness that she was in so he was constantly biting his tongue to keep his thoughts from pouring out. Now that she was somewhat back to earth, he was eager to chat. Tilting his head in her direction George raised his eyebrows.
“Yeah?” He questioned.
A smile graced her lips as she nodded in confirmation. The land was beautiful, unlike anything she had seen. There certainly weren’t any meadows with such serenity as this in the city of London. For once in her life she could hear the sound of her heart beating in the quietness of the open land and she loved it. No cars honking, no crabby cityfolk shoving their way through crowds, no taxi drivers screaming at pedestrians to move, no bright lights, just nature and all of its creations.
Extending her arm, Y/n pointed out to the land. George followed her direction to see she was gesturing to a small section of the meadow that was surrounded by an eyecatching army of poppies and bellflowers. A large willow tree stood towering over the side. In the middle was a bare section- large enough for a home to fit. Y/n grinned in excitement as she suddenly sat up straight.
“Yeah. Build a little cottage, start a garden, maybe even a family… I think it would be lovely.” She said dreamily. Her eyes looked up to George in wonder, silently asking him to share his opinion. Mirroring her previous actions, George scanned the meadow. He placed his hand against his chin, pretending to think long and hard about her idea. Y/n giggled besides him and shoved him lightly on the shoulder. He chuckled in response and leaned back into the log supporting him. George nodded in agreement to the pondering dream.
There was a casual grace to the meadow, as if it has a peripheral awareness of its own beauty yet would rather be at peace in this warm sun. It was quaint and humble yet glowing in - like a glorious mansion hidden away in a forest. A hidden gem that was to be kept away from the rest of society. Their own little happy place that opened and bloomed just for them. There was something so magical about the meadow that George couldn’t pass it up. It felt like fate leading him there- leading them.
“Think we could make that work. The family part is a definante- it’s just building a home that’ll take a bit of time. We could get started on making a family of our own right now-” George was cut off when a hand clamped over his mouth. Although he was only joking, he wouldn’t be opposed to the idea.
“George-” She warned playfully.
“Or in a few years. But living out here would be nice. ‘S not like I got to worry about commuting for work. It’d be a nice escape from the shop once we get business running, and once you graduate. Not to mention moving out here would mean I’d get to see more of you in that pretty dress. Flowers in your hair... you look so enchanting, darling.” A bashfulness struck Y/n to her core at his words. Her eyes instinctively shot down to the grass as a paint of red rose to her face. George’s heart quite literally stuttered at her reaction. Making her blush, seeing her smile because of something he said never failed to bring a sense of happiness to George. That damn smile, he thought to himself. He was sure she could convince him of anything when that innocent look took over. It was natural for her. Y/n was simply ethereal in every way.
His hand brushed as gently as a feather across the skin of her cheek. Pushing the daisy back in place behind her ear, George drew his hand down from her ear to her neck. Gripping her softly George pulled her towards his body, lessening the space between the pair. Dipping his head he leaned in towards the girl until their lips were only inches apart. He smirked teasingly, ready to make a remark when Y/n took matters into her own hands.
Linking her hand around his chin she pulled his face in hers with a deep kiss. Although she initiated the gesture, it was George’s response that made her lose all sense of control. His large hands moved from her face to her waist in an instant. Much to Y/n’s surprise he lifted her without warning, still holding her lips in his, and placed her in his lap so she was facing him. Her hands instinctively switched to wrap around his neck for stability. Fingers gripped at his short ginger locks as she adjusted her hips into his.
Y/n’s heart pounded in her chest as her entire body got weaker. She could only focus on how soft he felt against her mouth, how addictively he invaded all her senses. Everytime their lips met a rush of adrenaline and love ran through her veins. The muscles in her body went limp at his touch, jelly like. George held a tight lock around her waist keeping her steady against him. He slipped his tongue against her mouth, visibly shuddering when she slid her tongue against his in return. Tension was pooling by the second as the kiss intensified. Y/n’s strawberry dress cascaded down the side of legs as she repositioned in his lap earning a groan from George. Hot breath fanned against her face briefly at her movements. His hand darted from the small of her back to the exposed skin on her upper thigh, pushing her further into his body. The vibration of his voice against her lips and the tight grip of his hands on her thighs sent shivers down her spine. His kiss was sweet, like a long awaited embrace. Stars blurred her vision as George gripped her against his chest. The moment was quickly turning into a not so innocent kiss causing Y/n to slowly detach her lips from his. As she pulled away she remained sat in his lap, fingers brushing along the skin of his face as she admired his beauty. A smug smile was displayed on his face while he repositioned his hands behind his body to hold the pair up. Still holding his face in her palms, Y/n pressed forward to scatter a line of kisses on his cheeks. He chuckled in amusement before her kiss latched to his mouth once more. Between short and passionate pecks she fought for words to tell him how much he meant to her. She wanted to tell him all the emotions of love and desire he brought onto her. Tell him how she could never live with another- how he was the only one she wanted for the rest of her life.
“You’re too good to me, George.” She whispered against his lips. The lack of space between them was intoxicating. Heat emanated from George’s cheeks as he desperately attempted to regain his breath and compose himself. His chest was light with air caused by the sweetness of the girl before him. A small smear of glitter lip gloss covered his bottom lip in a shine.
George tasted a hint of bubble gum as his tongue swept along the skin of his bottom lip.
“I’d give you the whole world if I could but I’m afraid I don’t have the coins for that yet, princess.” Pressing his forehead against hers, George hummed the words. Y/n shook her head with a smile as she countered his grand proposition with one of her own.
“All I need is a quaint, cozy cottage out here and you… well a dog or a kitten would be nice too.” She laughed.
George could only stare at her in that moment. Her words registered although the naturalness to her beauty was too much for him to process. The sun hit her back in with such purpose it was as if she were an angel breaking through the sky. Her strawberry midi dress flowed down her sides and pooled in between his legs. Pretty pink satin clung to her form. The sparkling red strawberries fitted her perfectly. The ruffles on her shoulders gave her the look of a cottage princess, a fairy even. Hair flowing freely in the wind, it was a sight he’d never grow tired of seeing. He’d never seen someone as breathtaking as her.
Taking advantage of his silence, Y/n looked up to George in seriousness. His large brown eyes stared lovingly back to her. Gesturing to the meadow surrounding them, Y/n asked him,
“Do you think you’d be happy out here?”
George tore his stare from the girl to scope out the land once more. All the years he spent wandering down here alone in his mind and looking for some sort of answer to life, now he had found it. He could already picture where he would build a playset for the children and where he’d be able to make a small Quidditch pitch to teach your future kids. Ideas were forming for the house and how many rooms you’d both want. George was thinking somewhere around eight- extra room for more kids. Mapped out where the house would go, where he’d build a garden for you, figured out what tree would be perfect for him to put together a treehouse with Fred for the kids, and where the path would go towards the lake. The layout was quickly forming and he wanted in.
Y/n watched in curiosity as the thoughts swarmed through her lover’s head. She could see him intently thinking things over, then smiling before tilting his face back down at the girl. His head moved down so his lips could press against the skin of her forehead as he kissed her.
“Darling, as long as I’m with you, I’ll be more than happy.” He reassured her.
Y/n melted into the warmth provided by his lips. Her body leaned into his, desperate for more of him. George wrapped his arm around her shoulder tightly and fixed his body so he was sitting tall. She clung to his frame like a koala to a tree, burying her face into the material of his hoodie.
“Once I graduate?” Her muffled voice vibrated against his sternum. George ran his fingers up and down her spine as he held her tight.
“Once you graduate.” George repeated sincerely. Although they’d gone over the conversation a million different times, Y/n couldn’t help the shadow of doubts that crept into her mind. She trusted George with all her heart- every inch of her being but they’d be living in two separate worlds for a year and she worried that was something he might not want. Maybe he would realize he wanted to be with a girl his age, or someone older, someone not stuck at Hogwarts. Even without reason for worry, it still came.
Remaining in his hold yet moving back slightly, Y/n’s eyes darted to the flower covered ground. Her fingers ran along the petals absentmindedly as she worked to find the courage to speak. Her shift in emotions did not go unnoticed by the boy. George focused on the look of contemplation adorning her. As adorable as she looked, he hated seeing her in the slightest bit of distress. This went for any situation whether Y/n was stressed about a class, feeling ill, or just sad because she’s hungry, George does everything in his control to fix it for her.
“You’ll wait for me?” The sudden question took George aback. Her tone was a mix of innocence and fear. His confusion arose for the grave manner of her inquiry. Even if her worries were astonishingly unworldly to George, he knew better than to shut down her insecurities brashly. If the topic at hand weren’t so significant to their relationship, he might even crack a joke. However the seriousness in her features was not to be ignored.
George reached out to interlock his fingers through her warm hands. That comforting smile of his graced his face as he brought her knuckles up to his lips and placed a trial of kisses along the bones.
“Of course I’ll wait, love. No other girl I’d want to spend the rest of my life with- no other girl I want to call my wife, the mother of my children. No one but you, my love.” George insisted. It seemed magical to Y/n the way he always knew exactly what to say. Always so heartfelt and honest in meaning. He never told her a lie to make her happy but somehow managed to piece together a perfect string of words to make her whole again. Something in the way he spoke, in his words, it made her believe nearly anything was plausible. Most of all, she trusted him and believed that he had every intention of sticking around, which brought a sneaking grin to Y/n’s face. All those worries washed away at his words. It was a part she loved deeply about him.
The feeling of George’s touch smoothing over the bottom of her pink dress pulled Y/n back to the meadow. The scent of lavender and vanilla wafted past his nose from the perfume he had gifted her for Christmas. His fingers would skim against her bare leg in a teasing fashion as he smirked. Y/n let out a giggle at the tickling sensation of his touch. Her arms wrapped around his neck for support while her bashful grin never ceased.
“There’s that pretty smile.” George remarked with a chuckle. A sense of victory took hold of him at seeing her worries vanish. Arms locked around his neck, Y/n pulled him towards her as her head fell to his chest. Given their limited time, all the couple wanted to do for the next month was be in each other’s arms. George cherished every opportunity he got to hold her, knowing he’d spend the next year missing her everyday. It came in the little things as well like the way her hair always smelled like a basket of delicious fruits, or how she’d hum to herself while they were studying together. He already knew he’d spend most days babbling on to Fred about how much he missed Y/n. Break was almost over which meant the twins would be leaving Hogwarts for good within a few weeks. Y/n dreaded the idea of not seeing George every day, not getting to kiss him or hug him. George hated thinking about having to hear from her through letters and not getting to hear that sweet laughter every day. So for now, all George wanted was to hold his girl and enjoy the excitement for their future he felt budding inside of him.
The colors in the sky were starting to grow brighter by the minute and without saying it, the pair both knew they’d be needing to head back to The Burrow for lunch sooner then they’d care to admit. In the serenity of the meadows the couple found a sense of home. Y/n soaked in their last bits of time in the meadow before George mentioned them heading back. Although neither moved at his words but instead remained holding onto one another.
“I love you, George.”
“I love you more, princess.”
Summary: Dorian accompanies Orym back to Zephrah once again. Things between them change so smoothly, like a simple dance.
“Care for another?” A bright yellow daffodil appeared in his vision before he could fully register the words. “I know the others have already loaded you up, but if you have space for one more, I think this one would fit in nicely.”
“It's beautiful. Thank you. You're all too kind.”
“We welcome the opportunity to share this festival with others. Some might even say we get a bit overzealous.”
“Not at all! It's all in good fun.”
“That it is. Although, I must say, you don't look like you're having much fun.”
Quickly, Dorian put on a wide smile that was normally more than enough to placate most people. “Of course, I am! I'm really having a wonderful time. The flowers and the food and the dancing. And everyone has been incredibly inviting.”
“That's wonderful to hear. I'll admit, we were all so excited to see you came back with Orym.” The elderly woman's smile took on a somber edge that tugged on his heart strings. “He was the sweetest little boy I ever met. A bit shy and on the quiet side, but he never hesitated to stand up for people. It's so good to see him smiling again.”
“Have you seen him recently? We lost each other in the crowd, and I haven't been able to find him.”
“Oh, goodness. I think I saw him heading that way. I wish I could be more help.”
“You've helped more than enough! I should have kept a better eye on him. There's just so much to see. It's easy to get distracted.”
A hand gave him an understanding pat on the arm that accepted his answering soft squeeze in return. “Well, I hope you're able to find him soon. I'm sure he's missing your company.”
“After how much time we've spent together, he might be enjoying the break.”
“I doubt that, honey.” This time her hand went for a pat on his cheek that he hadn't been expecting, then she gestured in the direction she last saw Orym a second time. “Now, off you get. No need to sit here chatting with an old woman when you've got a handsome man waiting for you.”
“As long as you promise I'll have the pleasure of speaking with you again.”
“Flatterer.”
With one last smile shot her way, Dorian hurried along the side street looking for any sign of Orym among the festival goers. Small children ran from one stall to the next, couples exchanged wreaths of flowers, musicians played lively music, people danced in whatever free space they could find. Nowhere in the fray of people did he spot Orym, even as he continued making his way along the street. Eventually, he ended up on the edge of town staring up at a hill with a winding path leading up through the trees covering it.
After a moment of uncertainty, he followed the trail of magical lights guiding the way up the flower strewn path. The further he went the denser the trees grew around him, until they finally opened at the peak. At first, he thought he found himself alone with the two moons shining brightly above him, then he noticed the figure outlined by the light.
He stood perfectly still-head tilted back and hands loose at his sides. The flowers decorating him shifted in the soft breeze, making him look like a statue in comparison. He could almost imagine moss curling around him in a loving hold of life still clinging to a memory. A beautiful yet somber piece waiting on a hill for those willing to make the walk.
“I didn't expect you to find me here.” Even though Orym spoke, his body didn't appear to move.
“Someone saw you come this way. A lovely older woman. I'll have to thank her again later.”
“You didn't need to come up here. I wasn't planning on staying up here all night.”
“I needed a break from the crowd.”
Green eyes flicked over to him for a moment, then Orym dropped to the ground and motioned for Dorian to join him. As Dorian lowered into a sit, he carefully removed the flower chain around his neck and the crown weaved around his head. After setting them far enough away to avoid accidental crushing, Dorian joined Orym laying on the soft grass.
“It's beautiful up here.”
“It is. It was a favorite of ours.”
“How many times did you sneak up here?”
“Only a few.”
“I'll pretend I believe you.” A sudden swell of music from the town below drifted in on the light breeze beginning to pick up. “Thank you for letting me accompany you home.”
“I should be thanking you. You made the trip much less lonely than it would have been, and I'm sure you would have had more fun with them. Things are a lot quieter here.”
“I don't mind the quiet, not that you could call tonight quiet. How many times did you get cornered?”
“No one tried to corner me.”
“Sure, they didn't.”
“They didn't! Everyone was very polite about it. I really have been enjoying myself.”
“Good. That's good.”
While his tone sounded steady, a turn of Dorian’s head to better view Orym's profile spoke of something bittersweet around the edges. It wasn't exactly difficult to piece together why. The shadow of grief seemed heavier today than normal, threatening to burrow in deep and overtake every inch. If it were an open wound, he could heal it. Instead, all Dorian could do was try to keep him here.
“What's your favorite part?” Orym turned to quirk a curious brow, like Dorian asked him something outrageous. “Don't look at me like that. Surely you have a favorite part. What is it?”
“Dancing, but it's better with a partner.”
“Lucky you have me. I'm more of a musician, but I'm proficient enough to be passable. I should be able to follow your lead. Just don't complain if I step on your toes.”
“You don't need to do that.”
“But it's your favorite part, and we've come all this way for you. If I'm that bad, we'll do it once and call it a night on the dancing.”
The moment stretched on as Orym considered, causing the anxious twist in Dorian's gut to tighten in worry, then he smiled and gracefully rose to his feet. “I'm sure you're not that bad.”
“With you in the lead? I'll be fine!”
“You put so much faith in me. I'm not sure I deserve it.”
“It's more than deserved.” With a flourish, Dorian twirled to his feet, then lowered a hand in offer to Orym. “Dance with me?”
“For some reason, I think you were downplaying your abilities.”
“Maybe a little.”
Despite the roll of his eyes, the small smile never left Orym's face as he accepted the hand held out to him. Without the wraps that normally covered Orym's hands, the rough skin from countless hours of training and combat met his own. The urge to run his fingers along the long-worn calluses and scars flew from his mind at the first guided step. As in combat, Orym moved surely and gracefully from one step to the next in a perfect flow that Dorian followed just after.
Their steps didn't fall in time to the fast-paced tempo drifting up from the town below, but to something slower and unheard to Dorian. There was none of the skipping and kicking and rapid twirling he saw down below. They didn't swing around or take more than a step back from each other with their hands still locked together. In fact, Orym rarely put space between them on their slow spin about the top of the hill to a song only he could hear. That was until Orym began a low hum under his breath Dorian could just make out.
When he felt the song drawing to a close, Dorian took a step opposing Orym that threw his pattern off for a brief moment. Before their rhythm could break, Dorian spun his arm above Orym's head in a twirl that ended with them back together. If he thought Orym would let things end that way, that proved to not be the case before Dorian realized what happened. It only took a little pressure to the back of his knee for his body to dip backwards in a controlled fall guided by a hand on his hip and one sliding up his back.
“Told you I'd be fine if I followed your lead.”
“You did.” After a beat of silence, Orym slowly righted Dorian to his feet. “Thank you for humoring me. It's... been a long time. I forgot how much I used to enjoy this.”
“We should do it more often.”
“Yeah?”
“As long as you think you can keep up with me.”
“That won't be an issue. You'll need to keep up with me.”
“I try.”
The warmth of Orym pulling away left him nearly shivering from the next breeze that blew in, which Orym immediately noticed. “We should head back. It feels like it might-”
A cool droplet landing on his cheek drew Dorian's attention up to find dark clouds rolling across the sky. He quickly scooped up his flowers from the ground before they were left forgotten, then turned to Orym. The hand that reached out to him gave a gentle pull to lead him quickly down the hill as sprinkles of rain fell around them. It began to pick up as they worked their way through side streets that Dorian didn't recognize that eventually led to Orym's home.
While he didn't particularly enjoy the feeling of his hair plastered down his back or clothes clinging to his skin, Dorian pulled Orym away from the door before he could open it. Even though he looked utterly confused, Orym stepped away from the door without hesitation. The heat of their bodies pressing together fought away the chill threatening to set in from the rain.
“Is there a reason we're not going inside?”
“I've always wanted to try something.”
“If it's getting hypothermia, that makes one of us and I'm going to have to pass on that one.”
“Very funny.” Leaning down to get eye level with Orym sent some of his hair flopping in a wet cascade over his shoulder. “You can say no if you want.”
Fingers carefully tucked Dorian's hair behind his ear to keep it from covering his face, then dropped down to rest on his shoulder. “That would require you to ask me something.”
“It's going to sound childish.”
“There's no one here to judge you.”
“Don't act like your neighbors aren't nosy. I've seen a few of them with their noses pressed to their window watching us.”
“Admitting that out loud would mean I can't pretend I don't notice it.”
“You notice everything.”
“Not everything.” The hand on his shoulder squeezed lightly in signal of the gentle sway Orym started turning into a slow dance. “Have you ever danced in the rain?”
“No. I'd ask you that but based on the music, a little rain doesn't stop anything here.”
“Why would it stop us? It makes things more interesting.”
Between one step and the next, Dorian's shoe slid across the slick stone, which would have sent him to the ground if it weren't for Orym turning his fall into a spin that righted his balance. “I think you meant dangerous.”
“It's easier when you're barefoot, but you'll be fine. I won't let you fall.”
“Even when I do, I trust you to get me back up.”
“You're normally the one helping me up.”
“I wish I wasn't.” As soon as the words left his mouth, regret spiked through his chest. “I mean, I wish I didn't have to. It's always terrifying to see you take those hits and keep taunting when you can barely stand. I know that's part of what you do, but I-”
“Dorian, breathe.”
After taking a deep breath, Dorian opened his eyes to find Orym intently watching him. “I'm breathing.”
“I'm sorry.”
“You don't need to apologize to me. You didn't do anything wrong.”
“I should have realized that upset you. I'll try to be better.”
“You shouldn't change for me.”
“That's my decision to make. When you care for people, sometimes that means changing things about yourself for them.”
"I don't want you to change who you are for me.”
"Good, because I wouldn't. I'm still going to do my best to protect you-all of you. Sometimes that will mean putting myself in danger, but I promise I'll do better about not doing it unnecessarily. You can call me on it if I do.”
"Orym?”
"Yeah?”
"I, uh...” Before he could second guess himself, Dorian knelt down to be eye level with Orym. “Can I kiss you?”
While he knew better than to expect the meeting of their lips to be groundbreaking, Dorian wasn't prepared for it to feel so natural. Maybe he should have expected it, considering how much he associated comfort and safety with the other. He trusted Orym to a degree that might have frightened him if he ever stopped to think about it in the process. Instead, it grew within him so steadily and deeply, he didn't notice it took root until it was something that brought him comfort.
With a content sigh, he leaned into Orym when the other brought his hands up to delicately hold Dorian's face. It was the kind of kiss sung about in countless ballads-rain pouring down around them, the rest of the world washed away, just the two of them together. The kind of perfect he thought he learned the hard way didn't really exist, and yet this moment proved otherwise. It felt so simple and easy and real.
He didn't want it to end, but it did. Their lips broke when Orym pulled back to breath in deep, but he didn't go far-just enough to meet Dorian's eye. “We should get inside. Don't want to get sick.”
“That's a good idea. We should.”
“We'll get changed into something dry and I'll make us a fire.”
For once, he felt validated in his momentary hesitation because it earned him a fleeting, barely there kiss before Orym turned for the door. After wringing out as much water as he could manage, Dorian followed Orym into his home. Not even his best attempts to minimize the dripping prevented large puddles from trailing behind him in the process of getting to his room. He quickly exchanged his soaked clothing for a recent purchase of pants and a shirt made from the softest material he's ever felt. His hair took longer than he liked to get reasonably dry, which meant stepping out of the room to find his trail already cleaned.
“You didn't need to do that.”
Orym kept his focus completely on starting a fire as he spoke. “I didn't want you to accidentally slip.”
“I could have done it.”
“It wasn't a problem, Dorian. You're my guest. There's no need for you to worry about it.”
Rather than argue, Dorian left Orym to his work so he could go in search of heavy blankets to help warm them up. He returned with three thick blankets that he set down on the floor close enough he could feel a pleasant warmth from the fire. When Orym finally joined him, Dorian wrapped the thickest blanket around him before he could even sit down. With a fond roll of his eyes, Orym sat next to him and leaned against Dorian's side. Even though he most likely didn't need it, Dorian wrapped part of his own blanket around Orym as well, then settled back against the lower couch cushions.
“I hope you know I'm going to fall asleep if you're not careful.”
“That was the plan.”
“Someone needs to put the fire out.”
“It'll get done.” He pressed a kiss to the damp hair on the top of Orym's head as he drew him in tighter against his side. “Don't worry about the fire. I'll take care of it.”
“If you get tired of sitting on the floor-”
“The floor is fine, Orym. Relax. Sleep.”
“On one condition.”
“What's that?”
“Sing for me.”
“Normally, people have to pay me for that, but I'll make an exception for you.”
A soft laugh muffled against his side brought a smile to his own face that he couldn't have stopped even if he wanted to. "I'm honored.”
“As you should be. I don't do this for just anyone.”
“So you said.”
“Just for you.” Those green eyes he loved so much looked up at him with an intensity that made his heart beat faster in his chest. “All you have to do is ask.”
“You can't take that back now. I won't forget that.”
“Please don't. I'll gladly sing for you.”
Love Between The Pages | Chapter 3
Blaise Zabini x Reader
Chapter Summary: You and Blaise enjoy an afternoon in the warmth of spring with your book club, the two of you becoming closer and your mind terribly aware that it might all end with the end of his detention.
Warnings: Nothing, just fluff, very soft chapter, a tiny bit of romance.
Word count: Approx 2000
A/N: Hi loves, here's the third chapter!! I had initially intended to include a mildly angsty scene in this chapter, but I just couldn't fit it in and maintain the soft vibes I've been going for with this series. I hope you enjoy none the less! The next part will be the last full part and then it'll be followed up by a little epilogue!
The warm afternoon sun and a light, cool breeze made the grounds the perfect spot to enjoy the hour. It was warm, but not too hot and neither was it cold. “If we go a bit further down, we can hear the lake.” Neville said over his shoulder to the rest of the group as Theo walked along beside him, everyone happily following Neville closer to the lake shore.
“It’s pretty out here, isn’t it?” Cho asked, looking over at Draco who just sort of shrugged at her. “It’s alright I suppose.” He replied. “Oh shut up, we all know you like it, you can admit it.” Ginny teased, the girls giggling at the way Draco playfully rolled his eyes at them, too amused to really be mad.
“It really is nice out here.” You said, glancing up at Blaise as you walked next to each other, a little behind the others. “I can’t believe you never thought of it.” He chuckled. And Blaise had been right, it would be lovely to read out in the afternoon sun on a warm spring day, with a gentle breeze and the lapping of the lake against the shore. The birds flitting about added to the ambience, along with the distant cheer and laughter coming from the quidditch practice that was taking place in the distance, the odd giggle and shriek of laughter bringing the grounds to life as a group of first years bounded down to see Hagrid.
Following the others down, you felt the soft brush of Blaise’s hand against yours, the back of his fingers trailing over yours. It made butterflies blossom in your chest, your heart flipping as you glanced down at his gentle touch. Looking up at him, flustered and shy, you could barely look him in the eyes and you hoped, at least for a moment that he didn’t notice what he did to you, that he didn’t realise what kind of feelings you felt when his hand touched yours like that.
Was this more than just a little crush, you wondered. Was it more than just attraction when you thought of someone nearly all the time? Their voice on your mind, their mannerisms and things they would say playing in your mind over and over. Perhaps it was more.
“Here’s a good spot.” Neville sighed contentedly as he pulled his bag off his shoulders and placed it down on the grass below a tree before lowering himself onto the grass, his actions pulling you out of your little daze and your hand parted from Blaise’s.
Theo sat next to Neville, the pair having slowly become more friendly with each other over their interest in Herbology and books. And who would have known that Theodore Nott had an interest in Herbology, had it not been for Neville who saw it in him? Theo seemed to admire Neville’s attentiveness to character, seemed to admire his kind, nurturing nature. Perhaps that was what drew him towards the Gryffindor, and gave him the patience to give the friendship a chance.
Settling down next to Blaise beneath a tree, you pulled your copy of The Hobbit into your lap as he got himself comfortable, leaning back against the old oak tree. “The Hobbit, have you read it before?” Blaise asked as he looked over your shoulder, your eyes going wide with excitement. “Once, yes.” You nodded. “Have you read Little Women too?” He asked as he lifted the copy of Little Women he had borrowed from the library. “I’ve read that too.” You smiled shyly, looking down at your book. “I think it’s nice, it’s sweet actually.” Blaise replied. “What do you mean?” It came out quieter than expected, but not so quiet he hadn’t heard you. “That you read so much, that you know the muggle fiction in the library so well.” He chuckled softly.
Blaise often forgot that your upbringing had not been like his. While he was brought up with the reality of his abilities and those around him, you were unbeknown to the world of witchcraft and wizardry. For you, it was only being alive in the books you read, it was nothing but a fantasy to you. Sometimes he wished he had lived like you, in innocence growing up with nothing more thrilling than a muggle book to delve into, with fantasies he could not fathom. He wondered what it was like when you found out you were a witch and to have the fantasies of magic suddenly become a reality for you too.
Looking over at you, Blaise found himself unable to look away. It was the way you lazily propped yourself up against the tree beside him, one hand on the page of your book while the other gently slid between the soft blades of grass, your fingers idly trailing gently over daisy heads that bloomed beneath the tree. It was the late afternoon light that cast a golden glow over you, highlighting your beauty in every way.
Perhaps it was the way his heart fluttered or the light airy feeling he got when you smiled at him. Or perhaps it was the way you shone so brightly for someone who was so shy and quiet. Whatever it was, a thought crossed his mind in that moment, one he knew only as fact. She has stolen my heart.
It was then that you looked up from your book, having felt his gaze on you. He met your eyes with a flash of embarrassment before he gave you his lopsided charming smile that never seemed to fail in melting you.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" You asked softly.
"Like what?" Blaise countered.
"Like you're-." In love. You stopped yourself, the words unable to roll off your tongue. What if it wasn't love? What if it was just curiosity?
"Like I'm what?" Blaise prompted, his fingers reaching across the grass and gently brushing against yours, rising the warmth through you again. It was confusing, yet exhilarating and so sweet all at the same time.
The words played on your lips, tangible yet out of reach. They clung to you. What if it wasn't love?
"Nothing, I just meant..." You trailed off.
But as you questioned it, you wondered more now; what if it was love?
Between the longing gazes, the need to be near each other, the soft barely there touches and the way you both naturally seemed to look for each other in a room. Maybe it was love.
But as the comfortable silence took over and Blaise gazed at you with a soft smirk, he realised he didn’t need the answer. He knew what you were going to say, what was sitting on the tip of your tongue, too shy to be put into words.
Instead of trying to pry words from you or formulate the ones he was not sure he could just yet, Blaise gently slid his fingers through the soft blades of grass, his fingertips lightly brushing over the back of your hand. You looked up at him, a sweet expression about you, somewhere between curiosity and something flustered, wanting. It was soft, the way he took your hand in his, gentle and sweet as if he thought he might hurt you with the slightest movement, his fingers gently grasping your hand in his, resting in the cool grass.
You gazed up at him, eyes full of something, but they told him everything. The gentle lap of the water on the lake shore, the soft chatter of the birds in the trees and the way the breeze rustled through the leaves. The fresh spring scent, it smelled of green, of flowers, of fresh water. It was the light salt smell of the silt that collected on the bank, the woody scent of the tree that you both leaned against. And then there was the feeling, the feeling Blaise brought you, the butterflies that fluttered through you at the way he smiled, the way he gazed at you as if you were the only one there.
You read like that for a while, with your book in your lap, one hand turning the pages while your other was resting in Blaise’s gentle grasp, his thumb lightly tracing over the back of your hand, your fingers adjusting around his hand now and again, relaxing and becoming more comfortable with the soft touch.
And even when the low toll of the clock tower bell rang to signal the turn of the hour, accompanied by the soft shuffling of pages and clothes against grass, the quiet chatter of your friends as they gathered their things together, you stayed together for a moment longer.
“Come on, I’ll walk you back to your common room.” Blaise suggested as he pulled away from you, putting his book away. And even though you could have spent the whole night out in the grounds by his side, you knew you could not. It would soon be time for dinner and after that you knew you had other things you needed to do before tomorrow for class. “I’d like that.” You nodded, reaching for your bag and tucking your book away.
Blaise got to his feet first, throwing his bag over his shoulder before he held out both of his hands to help you up. And you gently placed your hands in his, letting him help you to your feet, his gentle touch not leaving yours for a moment, even after you were standing.
Taking your bag and adjusting it on your shoulders, you began to walk side by side, your friends having already started walking back up the grounds towards the stone circle. “Last week is your last meeting with us.” You sighed, intending it not to sound as if you were as disappointed as you felt, but Blaise heard the way it hurt to say it out loud, the longing hope that it might not end, especially not so soon. “And we’ll make it the best, won’t we?” Blaise gently nudged your arm. “I suppose we will.” You nodded as you both continued up the hill, your mind thinking up all manner of ideas of what you could do for the last meeting the boys were there for.
You didn’t want them to leave. Of course at first you had been thinking the same as Ginny had said, it felt as if you were the ones being punished for the boys attacking your group. But it quickly became apparent that perhaps the book club was just as much of a safe space for the boys as it was for you and your friends. And you hoped at least, that they liked it enough to stay after their last meeting, but there was no way you could know for sure and part of you was afraid to ask.
You heard a joyful shriek of laughter as you passed through the stone circle, looking up ahead to see Draco and Ginny laughing with their heads thrown back about something that Theo had said, Cho unable to stop herself from giggling. It made you smile. Perhaps it wouldn’t be the same without the boys if they left, at least you felt like something would be missing.
And as you walked up the steps towards your common room, your hands brushing together, fingers linking gently and soft glances cast between you, you became lost in your thoughts.
“What’s on your mind, sweetheart?” Blaise asked as you both stopped outside of the common room door, his breath catching in his throat at the accidental use of the name. It was true though, you were a sweetheart in every sense of the word, darling, kind, gentle, quiet. There was no other word to describe you the way Blaise wanted to. Meeting his gaze, your smile reaching your eyes with a loving warmth, you shook your head. “Nothing at all.” You lied. He didn’t believe you, but he didn’t mind, they weren’t his to be shared. “Alright, I’ll see you around then.” Blaise smiled, gently squeezing your hand. “Yes,” You paused, the thought again on your mind. What if it wasn’t love? “See you later.” Were your last words before your hands parted and you took one last look at Blaise before you turned away to walk towards the Ravenclaw common room door. And you wondered again; what if it was love?
Flower Shop: Giyu Tomioka x reader
Wow I didn’t mean for this to end up so angsty 😭😭😭 Enjoy I guess?
Artwork I did recently 🤪Follow my Tik Tok @ autumnsart2 for more!
1 and a half years ago:
Giyu Tamioka stood at the entrance to a medium sized village, watching as carts and horses moved past on the dirt road leading into the main square. It was market day, and the sky was perfectly clear, meaning that the town was packed with villagers and travellers looking to exchange goods and stories.
As a new member of the Demon Slayer corps, Giyu had been given the simple task of tracking down a demon terrorizing a village a few days ride from him, and he had travelled all night in an effort to reach the town faster. But unfortunately now he was exhausted, and he wasn’t sure he could travel any farther even if he pushed himself. It would do more harm than good anyway.
Which is how the demon slayer found himself at the center of the village, searching for a cheap food stand and a place to spend the night. Most of the villagers recognized a new traveller when they saw one, trying to trick him out of his money by overcharging for goods that were worth far less.
Giyu was in the middle of haggling with an older woman over the price of a pear when he heard the sound of bright laughter across the square. He had never heard a lovelier sound.
Immediately, his head whipped up and he searched you out in the crowd, his eyes resting on your face the moment he spotted you. Ever since he had begun his battle against the demons, he hadn’t been able to find it in himself to smile, let alone laugh. But you were so pretty, even as you hunched over, clutching your stomach and wheezing.
“Never mind,” Giyu said to the owner of the pear, turning away and striding off without looking at her. He wasn’t exactly sure what he was doing as he circled the square and headed towards your booth, which was a flower stand.
This isn’t part of the mission, he wanted to yell at himself, but the voice immediately went silent as you met his eyes.
“Hello, how can I help you today?” You asked, smiling brightly at the strange, handsome man.
“I’m looking to buy some flowers.” He was not in fact looking to buy some flowers, and he knew he shouldn’t waste his precious coins on something so useless. But your eyes brightened, and you immediately began to assess the buds as you searched for something he would like.
“Is it for a lover? Wife?” You asked, glancing at him.
“No.” Giyu responded a little too quickly. “My...mother.”
Your eyes flickered over him, eyebrows going up as you noticed the hilt of his sword peeking from beneath his coat. “You don’t seem like you’re from around here.”
Giyu shifted, his jaw clenching as he covered the sword once again with his jacket. “I’m not.”
You smiled slyly, resting your chin on your hands as you gazed at him. “Hmm… mysterious. I like it.”
He blinked, surprised by your forwardness, but you were already turning away before he could respond.
“Do you know what kind of flowers your mother likes?”
“Erm. You can just choose your favorites.”
Your face lit up once again, and Giyu was momentarily blinded. “That’s ok?”
“Yes.”
You began to hum as you worked, plucking flowers from different baskets, bunching them together and expertly tying them with ribbon. As you worked, Giyu admired the delicacy of your hands, the exact opposite of his. You didn’t seem weak; your strength just seemed to lie outside of the realm of physical combat.
“Finished,” you announced, holding up the bouquet. “Is this ok?”
“Yes, that looks wonderful.”
He bowed his head in thanks, before passing you a few coins and heading away hurriedly, clutching the flowers. You gazed after him, feeling slightly disappointed as he disappeared into the crowd. You had been hoping you’d get a chance to talk to him, ask him about where he was from and why he was carrying a sword with him. Oh well.
Giyu’s heart was racing as he stopped behind a building, the flowers clasped against his chest. He shouldn’t have bought them...it was stupid. And he had acted foolishly too, practically running for it before he could really say anything to you. Idiot.
The rest of the market passed quickly, and you sold another dozen bouquets to travellers and villagers as the sun set slowly behind the thatched houses. The square emptied, and you began to pack up all your flowers and close your stand for the night, laying everything out neatly in preparation for the next day.
You raised your eyebrows as you noticed the man from earlier sitting by the fountain, still holding the flowers you gave him as he stared distantly at a stand selling Takoyaki. Was he hungry?
You sighed, glancing at the coins you had made today, and headed for the stand. You had finished closing your shop, so you didn’t hesitate to buy a plate before heading for the fountain where the man with the sword sat.
“Hi,” you said, smiling brightly.
Giyu glanced at you in surprise, taken aback by your sudden appearance. “Hello.”
“You looked hungry.” You held out the Takoyaki, and Giyu’s mouth opened slightly.
“I...can’t accept this.”
“Why not? You bought my flowers instead of something to eat, so it’s the least I could do.”
He looked like he was going to protest again, but you sat down next to him and shoved the plate in his direction. “Just take them.”
Giyu sighed, but he took the food you offered and began to eat it quietly while you surveyed him.
“So, how long are you staying here for?” “Just the night. I’m leave in the morning.” He cleared his throat before reaching for another fried ball.
“Where are you headed?”
“The next village over.”
“You have business there?”
So many questions. Giyu glanced at you, automatic suspicious rising in his mind, but all he saw in your gaze was genuine curiosity.
“Yes,” he said finally, and you laughed.
“Whatever you’re doing must be a secret then, huh?” You glanced at his sword, and Giyu shrugged.
“You could say that.”
“I’m sorry to bother you then,” you said, getting to your feet. You hadn’t meant to intrude on whatever business he had, and you figured it was probably time for you to make your leave.
“Wait,” Giyu said, reaching out and snatching your wrist. “I’m...sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude.”
“You weren’t! I just don’t want to infringe...”
“It’s fine.” Giyu was cursing himself soundly in his head, wishing he knew how to make you stay, wishing he wasn’t so harsh. “Uh--”
Without thinking, he raised the bouquet of flowers and held them out to you. “These are actually for you.”
You blinked, surprise crossing your features before a slow smile spread across your face. “How did you know all my favorite flowers?” You said with a smirk, and Giyu crossed his arms.
“Got lucky.”
“Well whoever made this bouquet must be quite talented.”
“Very much so.”
“What happened to your mother?”
“She...doesn’t need them.” Giyu could feel his face getting hot, even though his expression remained blank.
You covered your mouth to muffle your snort, but Giyu still glared in embarrassment.
“Well, thank you Mr….” You paused.
“Giyu Tomioka.”
“Mr. Tomioka. I’m Y/n L/n.”
He nodded, a small smile coming to his mouth. You were taken aback by how much lighter it made his face look, and suddenly you wanted to make him smile like that all the time.
“It’s nice to meet you Y/n. You can just call me Giyu.”
Present:
Giyu sprinted through the forest, the dark trees a blur around him as he made his way closer to where he could see smoke rising in the distance. He could barely think through his panic, but he forced it down down down, down into the very corners of his mind. He had fought dozens, maybe hundreds of demons in his time as a Demon Slayer, and this fight was no different.
Except that it was.
You were down there.
Giyu crested the hill and felt his heart practically stop in his chest. The village he had come to love so much, where he hoped he could eventually settle down and raise a family...it was all on fire. Screams of terror floated to him on the breeze, as well as the horrible sound of crashing as buildings were torn to bits.
Giyu forced himself to move, running down the street and ignoring the flames on either side, despite how badly he wanted to search for you in the devastated buildings.
He skidded into the main square and felt his heart drop into his toes. Bodies littered the area, illuminated in the hellish red glow from the fire. He felt his chest squeeze as he noticed a familiar cart, it’s flowers smashed and ruined across the street.
No. No.
He ran, scanning the bodies as he went, feeling sick at the relief that spread through him when he didn’t see your familiar hair. But the wind changed and suddenly he could feel the monster, only a hundred feet away, it’s shadow filling up the entire block. Giyu felt his heart slow as he saw you, too, terrified and trembling even as you kept your arms spread out to protect the small child cowering behind you.
He didn’t think, only lunged. He would keep you safe, he had sworn to keep you safe.
You had laughed at him when he had promised that, kissing him lightly before cupping his cheeks.
I believe you, you had said.
His sword was drawn, flying through the air faster than the wind as he jumped at the massive demon. It snarled furiously as his weapon cut through it’s arm, sending black blood spraying. You cowered, dragging the child back from the carnage as your eyes met his across the street. Terror filled them, but determination too. Fight, you seemed to whisper.
So he did--
And yet it wasn’t enough.
This demon was stronger than any he had faced before, and a Demon Slayer of a much higher rank was supposed to be here to face it. But when he heard it was this village in danger, he hadn’t even paused to think. He didn’t even care if he died, as long as you got away safely.
The monster chuckled lightly, it’s red eyes blazing against the darkness of the sky and smoke. “It’s going to be fun to eat you,” it snarled, and Giyu readied his sword even as exhaustion tugged at him.
It’s massive claw lifted to chop him in two, and suddenly he saw a flicker of movement off to the side. You held a broken piece of wood, brandishing it just like he had taught you after you had asked to learn to fight. Your form was perfect as you slammed the wood against the demon’s hand, making him roar loud enough to shake the earth, and it gave him enough time to roll out of the way.
But then you had the demon’s full attention, and Giyu couldn’t do anything as it slammed it’s fist into your side so hard that you collided with the opposite building, not moving as debri rained down around you.
Giyu went blind with fury and terror.
You were fine, you were still alive.
He blinked, and the demon’s head was rolling away like a disgusting, bloody ball. He couldn’t even remember killing it, and he didn’t care as he turned and sprinted to your side.
You were utterly still, curling beneath a small pile of rubble as blood trickled from your temple. Giyu panted as he dragged you from the wreckage, desperately feeling along your neck, your wrist.
“Why did you do that?” He half sobbed, entire body shaking. You didn’t answer, didn’t even breathe.
Giyu held your head, stroking your hair, waiting for you to wake up. You would probably laugh at him, hug him tightly and tell him everything was fine. He would be able to buy you the sugary pastries you liked, and he wouldn’t bat your hand away when you poked his cheek and told him to smile more.
“I’ll do anything you want, I’ll smile every day. Just wake up, please, please.” His voice broke.
You didn’t, and there was no movement beneath his searching fingers.
The golden ring meant for your finger tumbled from his pocket, and his furious screams filled the night.
He would kill the demons, every last one.
I love you to the sun and back// Solangelo
“Come on, let me see already!” Nico whined “Not yet.” Will replied with a chuckle, causing Nico to pout. Will quickly fixed the red and white checkered table cloth that was spread out on the grass. “Alright, you can open your eyes now.” Will said with a proud smile on his face as he looked at his work then to Nico.
Nico slowly opened his eyes and gasped at what he saw. In front of him was a red and white checkered table cloth laid out on the ground. On top of the table cloth there was a big straw basket on the side. The basket had a little red ribbon tied into a bow on the handle, and underneath the bow was a small folded piece of paper. In the middle of the cloth there was a big three tier desert stand. On the bottom plate there were pink, red and dark brown cupcakes. The cupcakes had little white heart shaped sprinkles on them. The sprinkles were badly sprinkled on. On some of the cupcakes the sprinkles were in clumps. On the middle plate there were heart shaped chocolate chip cookies and on the smallest plate on the top there were a few sandwiches. On the sandwich in the middle of the plate there was a little toothpick stuck into the sandwich. The toothpick had a small picture of Nico and Will kissing on it. Nico looked at it with a mixture of amazement and fondness.
“Is it too much?” Will asked nervously playing with his fingers. “No, it’s perfect.” Nico replied with a rare warm smile. “Thank you.”
Will smiled so widely that it looked like it should have hurt. “I’m so glad you like it.” Will said happily. Will walked over to the checkered cloth and sat down. “Come. Sit down.” He said to Nico and patted the spot next to him. Nico slowly walked over and sat down next to Will. Nico looked around at the stuff around them. There were beautiful green trees everywhere and patches of flowers. The picnic was set up on top of a hill, so you could look out at everything happening down below. When you looked down you could see ponds with little ducks with there children swimming in them. Every once in a while a butterfly would fly past us and show off it’s beautiful wings. “This is a nice place you picked.” Nico told Will quietly. “Thanks.” Will responded as a blush spread over his face.
Will reached over to grab the basket placed on the side of the table cloth and picked it up placing it in front of himself and Nico. Will carefully took the folded piece of paper out from underneath the ribbon and shyly passed it over to Nico. “Here.” He said quietly. “What’s this?” Nico asked amused as a took the paper. “Just something I made for you.” Will says now completely turning his head away from Nico in shyness. Nico opened the folded paper and read it
My dearest Nico,
I know lovey dovey things aren’t your favourite thing in the world and you always said you weren’t ever going to participate in anything like that, but I hope you’ll make an exception for me. I love you Nico. To the sun and back (Did you like my pun?). I hope you’ll like the picnic. I even made sure to pack your favourite chocolates in the basket. Again, I love you. Never forget that.
Love, your Will
By the time Nico had finished reading the paper his mouth was hurting from smiling so wide. “Oh my gods, Will I love it. I love it so much.” Will looked over at Nico surprised by his words, he was even more surprised when he saw tears in the corners of Nico’s eyes. “Thank you.” Nico spoke wetly. Nico reached over and kissed Will with as much passion as he could. “Thank you, thank you.” He kept saying happily in Will’s ears. “You’re welcome Nico. I’m so glad you like it.” Will replied with a breathy laugh. “I love you so much Will.” Nico chuckled. “I love you too, death boy.” Will replied fondly. “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
“Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Neither boy was sure why the other loved them, but they were grateful they did. They would be lost without each other.
Dear Mother,
A/N: Inspired by the post about what Mrs Shelby’s name is. It’s also inspired by my first ever fic on here, The Letters, since it’s almost been a year since I posted it.
Her name had become a taboo. No one dared to mention the same of Mrs Shelby - the woman who’d thrown herself into the Cut because she went out of her mind. It was always “Mrs Shelby” or “the Shelby’s mother”.
Her name had died with her. She didn’t even have her name on the grave. Just mother.
Y/N Shelby didn’t even know her mother’s name. It was nowhere to be seen within the walls of the house and there was no record of it in any photo album or bundle of letters.
She was a ghost - a nameless whisper on the wind.
Y/N never asked about her mother’s name. Her brothers had told her she’d died from an illness - slowly wasted away before their eyes until she was no more. It was the truth, in a way. Her mind had give up and her body had followed not long after.
She’d thrown herself into the Cut and had sunk to the bottom - like Ophelia when her lover had murdered her father. Left behind was an already broken and bruised family who’s eldest members were about to go to war.
Y/N didn’t remember her mother. She didn’t remember the screaming, the crying, Tommy trying to shield her, Finn and Ada from their mother as she went out of her mind.
Committing suicide was no way to go. A mother committing suicide was another thing entirely. How could she be so selfish and abandon her children?
That was were the fear and suspicion of the Shelby’s had begun. All because of their mother. And they used it to their advantage, quickly becoming the most feared and respected family in Birmingham.
But no child should have had to grow up hearing whispered secrets about their mother and how it wouldn’t be long before the children followed her into the cold, icy depths of the Cut.
Y/N Shelby had no mother. Polly tried her best but she was never a maternal person - the loss of her children had damaged her beyond repair - and Y/N missed the nurturing nature mother’s apparently had.
She didn’t remember her mother. There were pictures of her in Tommy’s house - of her with John, Arthur, Tommy and Ada. She looked beautiful - like a Hollywood movie superstar. She was picture perfect, smiling at the camera with a loving hand on John’s shoulder and her arm around Arthur’s waist.
It was a snapshot of a forgotten time - before the demons invaded her mind and ripped her soul from her mind. And it wasn’t a true snapshot, not really. She’d suffered with the demons for years before that image, but it only got worse.
But Y/N took that image of her mother - looking perfect and like a porcelain doll. And she wrote her a letter. She introduced herself, told her what she looked liked and what her favourite things were and put it in her desk draw.
For the next twelve months, Y/N wrote a letter to her mother every day. She poured her heart and soul out to this invisible woman who’s name no longer existed and who’s image was frozen in a dusty photo on her brother’s desk.
8th April, 1923
Dear Mother,
I turned nineteen today, Nothing spectacular happened - I had a nice meal out with Ada and went riding with John and Arthur. Tommy vanished off to London - again - and I didn’t see him all day. Not quite sure what I’ve done to piss him off but, alas.
Polly gave me your necklace today The string of pearls you bought with the first bit of money Arthur made. I’m wearing them, and your engagement ring, as I write this. I look like a proper lady with my new dress on...
It’s been sixteen years since I last saw you. I’m doing alright without you but it’s hard. I see Ada with Karl and Polly with Michael and my heart aches for that. But i know I can never have it and will never have it.
I hope you’re alright, wherever you are, mother.
All my love,
Your ever loving daughter, Y/N x
As the days and the weeks went by, the bundle of letters got bigger and more tattered. She told no one about her little ritual - she knew they wouldn’t approve. Her family never dared mention their mother for fear of bringing about a curse.
Y/N was never that superstitious. No curses existed - it was just poor luck and death threats.
1st August, 1923
Dear Mother,
I feel like I’ve almost caught you up on the past sixteen years. The Great War, Tommy’s wedding, both of John’s weddings and his gaggle of small humans he calls children. There’s almost nothing else to say to you.
Not that you’re actually here, that is. I doubt you were ever really here.
I wrote my brothers letter when they were in France. That was different, though, because they wrote back and sent me little things. I still have the violet John sent me from the Somme.
I have all your things. No one else wanted them - they say they’re cursed or some shit like that. I was never that superstitious, it’s just life attempting to play God. No one has a say on who gets to be a survivor and who gets to be a martyr.
I like to think of you as Ophelia. She sang to herself as she drowned, oblivious to her death. I hope you were like that, finally at peace with yourself as you floated down the Cut with the fallen flowers and leaves around you like a halo.
There’s me trying to romanticise your death. No one even mentions you by name so forgive me for trying to make you seem more alive than apparently you are.
Well, you’re not alive are you. You’re dead.
You have a grave. It’s up on the hill by the old tree that was used for hangings back in the day. Near Tom’s house. It’s an alright spot, I suppose. Nothing special. No one ever visits you, however. Your name isn’t even on the pebble someone put there as a marker.
We couldn’t afford a headstone. We can now but Tommy would murder me if he knew I did that. He hates talking about you.
No one ever tells me about you. All I have are a few photos that are practically falling apart and your clothes and jewellery.
Anyway, I need to go. Family meeting and all that shit.
Your ever loving daughter,
Y/N x
By the time Christmas came, Y/N’s desk drawer was full of letters to her non-existent mother. Each letter was bundled together by month with colour coordinated ribbons for each month. February was purple, September orange and so on.
She’d told her mother everything she’d ever wanted to. Her first kiss, her first love, her first break up, the time she got shot, the numerous times she almost died.
She had no need to tell her anything anymore. Her mother felt so much more real to her now than she ever had before.
She made her decision on Christmas Day evening. Everyone else was inside Arrow House watching the children open their last few presents and drink the remaining of the wine and whiskey.
Y/N slipped outside, grabbed her horse, and rode up to the hill were the old hanging tree had once been. Her mother’s grave sat to the left of the tree - a tiny mound of earth with a pebble as its only marker. Y/N dismounted from her horse and approached the grave, clenching the letters tightly.
Twelve bundles. Almost 365 letters.
Y/N found some twigs and branches and made a small fire at the foot of the grave. A moment later it roared into life and crackled away, casting an orange glow over her face.
She spread Tommy’s coat out on the ground and sat down, cross-legged, in front of the fire, clutching the letters. For once, she wasn’t wearing a dress belonging to her mother. Instead it was a mismatch of her brother’s old trousers, shirts and waistcoats.
She started with the first of January.
Y/N untied the ribbon and pulled out the first letter, the date neatly scrawled on the top left of the envelope. She read it through once, flipped it over to look at the address and then put it on the fire.
The paper curled as it burnt away, the writing fading into nothing but ash and sparks.
The second of January followed suit before the first of January had even finished burning.
Each letter curled and burned in the fire, the words and the sentiments becoming nothing more than ash.
Fifteenth of February quickly followed the fourteenth.
Twenty-eighth of April was followed by the twenty-ninth.
Each and every letter was add to the fire until she was only left with one.
25th December, 1923
Dear Mother,
I’ve told you everything.
There’s nothing left to say, now. I’ve spilled my darkest secrets and untold stories to you.
I’ve moved on, now. I still wish I had you around but I’m coping with it. I wish you were more than just words and pictures and jewellery. But nothing is fair.
I’ve burnt all the letters and I hope the words reach you. I hope their spirit and their meaning reach you and reassure you that your daughter is doing fine.
You used to be mine but now you belong to the world.
I only wish I’d learnt your name.
All my love
Your ever grateful and loving daughter,
Y/N Miriam Shelby
💥-Your home life was less than best, your parents were both Alpha’s and they resented the fact that you presented as an Omega. You were met with harsh words and brutal punishments if you so much as knocked over a glass.
💥-It was only a few months ago when suddenly their tune changed. They were suddenly eager to have you around. Your mother had even taken up to brushing out your hair every night.
💥-As an Omega who was clearly touched starved your entire childhood you enjoyed it immensely.
💥-Even though you enjoyed it you were still put on edge. What had caused their sudden change of heart? Why was your father suddenly buying you nice dresses and ribbons when he barely spent a penny on your clothes before?
💥-You were used to the dull and slightly scratchy clothes that you wore when cleaning and cooking. They were a little well-worn but they got the job done. Your mother wouldn’t even allow you to be seen in them.
💥-She had taken to locking them up in the trunk you kept by the bed.
💥-It was only when you were dusting your father’s study that you came upon a letter. It was to the town mayor, it revealed that your father planned to sell you off to the mayor’s son.
💥-Your heart stopped in horror.
💥-You clutched the duster close to your chest, your hands nearly white. You tried not to leak out your horrified scent. You knew if they knew you had found of their plan they wouldn’t hesitate to chain you to your bed.
💥-The mayor’s son was a menacing Alpha. In your childhood, you had seen him fling rocks at the poor crows at the schoolhouse. He was quick to pick on the smaller children as well.
💥-He had bullied you but stopped after you sunk your teeth into him once. You remember his cold eyes glaring into yours as he promised that he would get you back. This was clearly his way of getting revenge.
💥-You knew all of the girls that had started courting him. His status gave him a long line of suitors but each and every one of them didn’t stay long. You had heard whispers of some of the Omega’s going back to their parent’s house with purple bruises.
💥-Once the word spread, the townspeople were a little hesitant to send their Omegas to the mayor’s opulent manor that sat on top of a hill overlooking the town.
💥-You were quick to put the letter down on your father’s desk and fled the room. That was the last of your chores for the day so you went unnoticed as you laid in your nest. trying to calm yourself, for the rest day.
💥-You needed out of this town fast.
***
💥-You had overheard stories of mail-order brides. Omegas giggling in the isles of the town store about the possibilities of finding a strong Alpha over letters. You had just came in to pick up some much-needed flour and milk.
💥-“Jane just caught a train to the south. She found herself a handsome Alpha sheriff.” One of the Omegas giggled, absolutely scandalized by the topic.
💥-“I wish I was brave enough to go on a train and ride into the unknown like that.” The other sighed, fanning a handkerchief over her face.
💥-“Oh stop! Like I don’t know you are already courting the preacher from the next town over.” The Omega pushed her friend’s shoulder playfully.
💥-The conversation had planted a seed in your mind. The notice board was posted in the back of the store. While you were grabbing the flour you might have gazed at the adverts of men wanting a mate.
💥-You also might have memorized the address of the one that caught your eye the most. It was written by a rancher who needed someone to help around the ranch while he was out all day with the cattle.
💥-His ad was short and straight to the point. He wanted an Omega who would be comfortable living a farm life. He stated that if the bride was to arrive that he was willing to wait to bond until the bride was comfortable enough.
💥-If it didn’t work out and then he would send them back, paying for the travel expenses.
💥-The ad might have been on the short and straight side but it drew you in. As soon as you got home and completed your chores you were quick to go up to your room and draft up a letter.
***
💥-You knew it was a little bold of you to do but in the very first letter, you sent him a handkerchief you had scented. Usually, that would happen after a few weeks of correspondence but you were in a rush.
💥-In the letter on your father’s desk, you read that you only had one month before the mayor would make the announcement.
💥-In his first letter to you, he had sent you a handkerchief as well. You had to pick up the letter in secret. You didn’t want your parents finding out. You had told your mother that you were going out to pick wildflowers to set the table with at dinner.
💥-She had let you go without much argument.
💥-You quickly picked up the letter at the store. You were lucky that it was the sweet daughter of the owner who stood at the counter. You knew if either he or his mate saw you that gossip was quick to spread.
💥-The daughter was quick to lock her lips after she handed you your mail. You made a mental note to be sure to bring her a batch of cookies the next time you came around. After you left the store you walked into the nearby forest.
💥-You couldn't wait and hastily found a tree trunk to sit on. Flower picking would have to come later.
💥-Once you broke the seal your nose was invaded with a cinnamon scent. It was warm and comforting. Your Omega instantly let out a soft purr. You were glad you opened the letter here rather than in your house.
💥-There was no way your parents wouldn’t have noticed the Alpha’s scent.
💥-You only allowed yourself a few more whiffs before you have to put it away. You didn’t want it rubbing off on you. You were pleased to find out that he liked your letter and he was interested in writing some more.
***
💥-After a few weeks, Bakugo already sent you your train ticket. It was both exhilarating and frightening. You had packet your bag already. It held most of your old clothes and a few of the newer dresses your parents had gotten you.
💥-You know they wouldn’t be practical to take them. You were gonna be living on a ranch after all. You secretly sold some of the more expensive ones to have money for the journey down south.
💥-With a heavy breath and beating heart, you looked at your house one last time before setting off on your trip. Your heart ached but it was better than staying here and being bonded to such a cruel Alpha.
***
💥-The journey wasn’t as exciting as you expected it. Soon the train was pulling up into the station and your new life was waiting for you by a horse and wagon. You could have picked out his scent among a crowd of people.
💥-Only a few people got off at the stop so you didn’t have to look hard. You spotted his black cowboy hat before he lifted his gaze and his crimson eyes connected with yours.
💥-You felt the air in your lungs leave you.
💥-He was truly a ruggedly handsome rancher. He looked like he didn’t play around and worked from dusk till dawn. He was quick to come towards your side and grab your bag.
💥-“I hope the train ride wasn’t much trouble. Damn things are always running into trouble nowadays.” His voice was husky, his eyes staring straight ahead as he walks to his wagon to store your suitcase.
💥-“It was quite alright.” You tried not to squeak out, your heart wouldn’t stop pounding.
💥-“That’s good.” He commented, before lifting his calloused hand up to help you onto the buggy.
💥-Your hands tingled where they touched, you held back your blush as you hop aboard. With a slight cough, you straightened out your dress before sitting.
💥-Bakugo was quick to climb in and get the caramel-colored horse moving.
💥-“When we get back to the ranch I will carry your stuff inside and show you to the guest room. I am sure you are tired after the long trip.” He addressed, his eyes focused on the dirt road.
💥-“That sounds lovely.” You hummed, allowing yourself to sink into the wooden seat.
💥-He coughed, his eyes shifting around a bit.
💥-“I have laid a few blankets on the bed. You can pick a few and leave the ones you don’t like outside the hall.” He stumbled, a slight flush coming up on his cheeks.
💥-Your Omega was already set on bonding with him. He had already caught her heart but he still needed to catch yours.
💥-“Thank you.” You replied, giving him a small smile.
💥-“It’s nothing.” He muttered, he ushered the horse to go faster.
***
💥-Walking into the room you spotted said blankets stacked on the bed. You all but melted at the sight.
💥-“I still have some chores I need to do around the ranch. Make yourself at home. I don’t want you cooking supper tonight. It was a long journey. I will.” He informed, laying your suitcase on top of the trunk at the end of the bed.
💥-You were stunned by his statement.
💥-An Alpha, in the kitchen? Your mother didn’t even dare go near the stove. The only time you saw your father in the kitchen was when he was showing it off to guests.
💥-“O-okay.” You stuttered, still in shock.
💥-“Alright.” He nodded, before heading back downstairs and out the door.
***
💥-You sat at the dinner table looking at the steak and potatoes steaming on the plate. It looked delicious. Your mouth was starting to water.
💥-“It looks good, Alpha.” You commented, eyes still on your plate.
💥-Bakugo nearly choked on is steak at his title coming out of your mouth. He hadn’t been around a lot of Omegas so he was definitely gonna have to get used to having one around.
💥-His Alpha all but panted at keeping this sweet-smelling Omega under his roof.
💥-“Ya, well, I am used to cooking for myself so it was no trouble.” He rumbled, lift his cup to his lips, hoping the small amount of ice in it would hide his reddening cheeks.
💥-“Mmh! Maybe we should swap recipes! I can’t imagine making a steak this good.” You hummed, chewing the tender meat.
💥-You were literally trying to kill the poor Alpha. Your sweet sounds and gentle praise was enough to bring him to his knees. His Alpha was pawing at him, wanting him to bond you right this second.
💥-He shrugged his Alpha off, he said he would wait and he was a man of his word.
💥-“I am sure I could show you a few things.” He commented, swallowing his food and hoping it would distract him from your sweet form.
💥-“Sounds fun!” You beamed, taping a napkin to your face. You couldn’t help but let out a gentle purr.
💥-Lord help him.
***
💥-It had been a fun two weeks of getting to know each other. He had given you a tour of his land. It was quite breathtaking. Grassy fields as long as the eye could see.
💥-He even introduced you to his barn animals.
💥-“We have three horses as of now. Make sure to keep away from Fred over there. He likes to chew on hair.” He pointed to the black stallion.
💥-You nodded, already taking a step away from the animal.
💥-“We have a few hens. If you would like, one of your chores could be harvesting the eggs in the morning.” He offered, his eyes looking at his small hen house.
💥-You were dressing in one of your fancier gowns and he was having a hard time to keep his eyes to himself. Your hair was down it flowed beautifully around your face.
💥-You were shined brighter in the sunlight. He knew he could grow old looking into those eyes.
💥-“I think I can do that.” You agreed, peering over the fence that held the feathery animals.
💥-“Good.” He had a small smile, enjoying the wonder on your face.
***
💥-You thought it was time to make your intentions clear. You had felt comfortable in the Alpha’s presence and didn’t want to leave his side anytime soon. You could see yourself raising pups in this house and wanted to make sure he knew that too.
💥-So you thought up a plan.
💥-Dressed in only your nightgown you made your way to his bedroom door. Hopefully, it would be your bedroom too if it went well. You gently knocked on the door.
💥-You hoped he wasn’t already asleep.
💥-You heard heavy footsteps making there way to the door. Your heart fluttering at each step. He pulled the door open.
💥-“Is something wrong, Omega?” He peered down at you. His Alpha lifting his head.
💥-“I wanted to know if I could have one of your pillows, for my nest.” You shuffled your feet, not brave enough to look at his eyes but instead looked at his eyebrows.
💥-You noticed them shoot up in surprise.
💥-He stood up straighter his eyes admiring your flush cheeks and soft face. This was finally happening. He longed for a mate for so long. Being a rancher was a lonely life but now he was gonna be sharing it with you.
💥-“Of course, Omega.” He walked to his bed a plucked the plumpest looking one off it.
💥-He made sure his arm wasn’t shaking when he passed it over to you.
💥-“Thank you, Alpha.” You chirped, deciding to do something bold.
💥-Quick on your feet you lifted yourself to meet his cheek and placed a kiss there. You were quick to retreat to your room after that. You left your stunned Alpha in the hall.
Ah! I was so nervous writing this. I haven’t come across any fics like this. The only other one that was kinda similar was in the Marvel universe and it wasn’t mail order bride based.
I hope you guys like it. Thoughts? I can totally see myself writing for this AU again.💕💕
